Personal Note: These nominations should be very similar to TVB's Anniversary Awards.

Since Ma Ming and Fala are nominated for leading roles respectively in "Fistful" and "Ghost", they should also be nominated for leading roles at TVB's Anniversary Awards. Many people think that Ma Ming and Fala will win in the supporting categories; however, it is quite evident that they are leading roles.

Anyway, I support Ma Ming and Fala to win this year's favourite character awards.

Surprised that they nominated Bosco for a leading role in "Move" instead of Ron's role in "Chip".

  1. Natalie is nominated for her role in Fistful, but Selena is not nominated anywhere.

  2. TVB is really promoting Bosco. Same thing happened when he was in the top 5 for best actor. Poor Bosco since they're doing more harm than good.

  3. or in the Next Magazine awards where Bosco got in the top 10 instead of laughing gor.

  4. well it doesnt matter what your own opinion of it is, tvb categorizes each role even before its filming stage. sorry but fala and kenneth are really being overrated here. it doesnt hurt to be humble. do you know how many veteran character actors that never had any spotlight despite their very experienced acting skills? do not think "supporting" is less, where does the arrogance come from? no disrespect. this is from a third perspective, their acting is very ordinary, but tvb's promotion cleared way for them.

  5. Anonymous,

What do you mean Fala & Kenneth are overrated? They are not overrated. If you have watched Fistful of Stances you would notice that Kenneth has just as many scenes as Kevin. It is possible to have 2 main leads in one series. And how does does that make Kenneth and Fala arrogant? People are nominating them, they are not nominating themselves!! And no one is saying that supporting roles are less significant than mains. In fact Kenneth always says he wants to be someone like Benz Hui, he acknowledges how important supporting roles are.

  6. To lizzy:

Yes, I was quite disappointed at the fact that Selena didn't receive any nominations. Perhaps it was because her role is difficult to define as a leading or a supporting role. The only reason why Natalie is nominated is because her role had a lot of talking point, and it really got viewers to start noticing the series.

    To Anonymous 3:

I'm not degrading supporting roles, as I personally love and respect many actors who take on supporting roles. Also, most of the time, the supporting roles are more outstanding than the leading roles, and they usually outperform the leads as well. It's just that many netizens labelled Kenneth and Fala as supporting roles despite the fact that their respective roles in "Fistful" and "Ghost" were evidently of leading status.

If you actually read what I wrote in my comments, I said that "I support Ma Ming and Fala to win this year's favourite character awards". Notice the words "favourite character", which is not related to their actual acting performance (although I also enjoyed their performances). It's the "characters" that they played in their respective series that I support.

    To Hi:

Yes, supporting roles are as important as the leading roles. As the Chinese saying goes, "Although peonies are good, they also need green leaves to support them" (peonies = leading roles; green leaves = supporting roles).

  7. Nice that Astro award is back, anyone knows when will it take place?

Anyways, totally agree that Fala did a great job in Ghost writer and also MaMing in A fistful of stances and also it is seriously weird that Ron is not on the list but Bosco is especially that Every move hasnt actually aired yet...i was actually hoping Kingsley to nominated under the My Favourite Actor in a Leading Role but neh, so hopefully Raymond (Kingsley) will get into the Top 10

  8. Hi Hyn5: can you tell me something about the awards? It's actually the new awards, am I right? how to vote and when the ceremony will be organised?

  9. To artbox:

Raymond's performance in "Growing" was better than his performance in "Mysteries", so it makes sense he would be nominated for his acting in "Growing" instead.

    To Alec Nguyen:

Astro's contract with TVB changed, so the series up for awards coincide with TVB's series schedule.

Voting begins on October 4th, but I'm not familiar with the voting process, and I don't know when the awards will be presented.

  10. Michael Tse is another one being nominated for Supporting when his role was definitely Leading alongside Michael Miu. Anyway I agree this is how TVB's own nominations will probably look when they're announced later this month. Funny how some series received so many nominations when they haven't even aired. Kinda tells how it's all set up internally doesn't it? Where's Gun Metal Grey then, eligibility postponed to next year (contrast this with THAT OTHER anniversary series)? Surely it can't be that they'd think Felix Wong and Michael Miu wouldn't be liked well enough to garner "Favourite Leading Actor" votes, hmm?

  11. I was actually really hoping that selena would be nominated for but she's not nominated. Its really sad to see that because I love her and i can really see her effots she put in for the role.

  12. To Anonymous:

I personally think that Mui is not that great of an actor. His characters are always trying to be "cool".

    To Summer Winter:

Yes, I was also disappointed that Selena was not nominated.

  13. I do agree Miu is not that great an actor either, but these AOD awards are for "Favourite" rather than "Best", and I think he should be well-liked enough. And many people are certainly looking forward to seeing Felix Wong. Just saying this list's credibility is greatly diminished with so much evident biasness, but then that's usually the case with TVB.

  14. To Anonymous:

I believe Felix is more like than Mui.

I certainly am one of those people looking forward to seeing Felix. :)
