"A General, a Scholar and a Eunuch" Filming a Sequel, 'Male Official' Edwin Siu Returning and Hoping to Bring Kenneth Ma on Board

TVB's classic time-travel comedy "A General, a Scholar and a Eunuch", starring Edwin Siu, Raymond Cho, and Matthew Ho, has enjoyed immense popularity since its 2017 broadcast. News recently circulated that a sequel is being filmed. Regarding this, the 'three male officials' personally confirmed filming the sequel in an exclusive interview with on.cc. Edwin specifically expressed his hope that TV king Kenneth Ma, whom he has been working seamlessly with recently, is able to join in: "Certainly happy! Really never thought about being able to revisit a series that I like so much after ten years. Of course, the three of us brothers will definitely continue our roles as male officials. Also looking forward to seeing which new actors are joining in. Of course, one of the actors [I] want most is Kenneth. Now, we have kept holding concerts and working seamlessly together; if he appears in the series, it would definitely be extremely spectacular. If that happens, we'll have worked seamlessly together from hosting and series to concerts! Very lucky".

As for Raymond, he said, "It has been nearly ten years since the previous installment aired. I also rewatched the entire series recently, hoping to recapture the feeling from back then. After all, the three of us are very close in private and have a lot of chemistry. Greatly looking forward to seeing what kind of new sparks the original cast will create this time around!" Matthew expressed, "Extremely looking forward to the three of us brothers reuniting and bringing laughter to everyone".

"War of Thorns" Becomes an Anniversary Series

Every year, TVB would arrange a grand production as its anniversary series to build hype leading up to its anniversary on November 19th. This year, apart from "This City Never Sleeps" (starring Julian Cheung, Ron Ng, Kelly Cheung, Samantha Ko, et al.), the other anniversary series is known to be "War of Thorns", starring Tavia Yeung and Lin Xia Wei! This series' cast is formidable; apart from the two TV queens, there are also three TV kings, Moses Chan, Kenneth Ma, and Ruco Chan. Although many netizens previously expressed dissatisfaction with TVB's frequent production of revenge-themed series, "War" mainly revolves the struggles of the entertainment industry, sisterly discord, and scheming. The story is about four good sisters, Lin Xia Wei, Kelly Fu, Elaine Yiu, and Judy Kwong, who fall under suspicion regarding the death of their former good friend, Yoyo Chen. Tavia, who plays Yoyo's bestie in the series, stages a comeback to execute a revenge plan, manipulating the women into turning against one another.
'Arch-rivals' Tavia and Lin Xia Wei are set to clash again following "Darkside of the Moon" in 2024. In a promotional clip that was released in a programme presentation earlier, there was a tear-filled confrontation between the two. There was also an intense scene where Kelly pulled Yoyo's hair. Elaine also had a lot of screen time, and there were multiple scenes of being humiliated.
In an exclusive interview with on.cc, Tavia talked about "War" becoming an anniversary series. She happily said, "Yes! Will be meeting with everyone soon. I am also greatly looking forward to it. Actually, also cannot control when it releases, but certainly even happier to be able to air during the prime anniversary slot!" At the anniversary the year before, she won 'My Favourite TVB Actress in a Leading Role (Greater Bay Area)' for 'Yu Moon Yuet' in "Darkside" but missed out on TV queen. Asked if she hopes to vie for an award again with "War", she said, "Not thinking too much about awards. Right now, when filming series, hope to encounter a good script and land a good role; having the continued support of viewers is enough. As for other things, my mindset remains the same as always: do [my] best and leave it to fate".
Lin Xia Wei previously revealed that her role this time is vastly different from the one in "Darkside". She said in an interview, "Because 'Darkside' was very well-received. Very happy to work with Tavia again, but there was also some pressure because everyone would definitely make comparisons, so particularly nervous; however, I think that viewers will not be disappointed because the character this time is even more fun and challenging than last time. Could be said to be an evolved version. I am also greatly looking forward to it. Will definitely be working hard to promote it then. Hope that everyone sees a new side of [me]". Kenneth is extremely happy to collaborate with Tavia again in over ten years since "The Hippocratic Crush II"...believes that viewers share his anticipation for this nostalgic CP; he and Yvette Chan, whom he is collaborating with for the first time, also play father and daughter.

I have not worked with Tavia since 'The Other Truth', which was my first series as the male lead. Have also never officially collaborated with Moses...have more scenes together in this series". He also pointed out that he was very happy to drive a supercar when filming this series: "Had wanted to for many years, and finally had the chance. This time, I am playing a rich second generation. Hope that everyone likes seeing a side of [me] that has not been seen before". His last aired series was already "The Queen of Castle". He laughingly said, "Did not have much screen time in that one. Kenneth Ma Gets 'Tuned' by His Wife to Learn the Art of Romance and Create Surprises

Kenneth Ma has steadily built his career, taking one solid step at a time to reach his current first-line position; he has also approached his love life at his own pace, eventually finding the right person. He and Roxanne Tong tied the knot in 2023; three years into marriage, Kenneth still looks sweet when talking about his wife, expressing, "She also always makes me very sweet".
"My wife is very funny. She really has a flair for performing. Is always doing things that are very funny in front of me, like she would suddenly imitate people and imitate voices...sometimes imitating the expressions of [our] two cats. I also think that her impressions are spot-on. However, perhaps the roles that TVB gives her are those of pretty girls and innocent people...has not encountered a role that is suitable for her to play yet, so she has not showcased this side".
He frankly said that there has not been a great change since getting married, as he and his wife are both homebodies who enjoy the time spent at home. However, there would bound to be a period of adjustment when two people are getting along with one another, which Kenneth says is a normal thing; the key is mutual compromise, as 'love' leads to being unconsciously influenced by one another. "For instance, in the past, I never allowed anyone to eat in my car, but my wife really likes to eat in the vehicle...slowly made me feel that it's not a big deal".

He said that they would both cajole the other: "Sometimes my wife gets a bit temperamental, and she would apologize to me afterward. Other times, the guy loses [his] temper and overreacts to trivial things; I would also apologize".
The pragmatic Kenneth has never been associated with 'romance' in the past; the him now, in order to make his wife smile, the naturally blank [person] has also learned the art of romance and how to create surprises: "I'm not really the type of person who makes a big deal out of special occasions. Have gradually learned to do so now. Give her a surprise every now and then. Have found some things to give to her that she did not expect, and she was also delightfully surprised".
