Personal Note: Still have reservations toward Marco Law's first Qing Dynasty series....

Aimee looks even more like Christine Kuo here.... o_O

Hope that Aimee does not speak her ancient dialogue the way she did in the Sales clip of "The Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang"....

He he.... Aimee's costume is similar to the one worn by Selena in "Sentinel".... :P

Do not like Natalie's look in here....

  2. I'm quite skeptical on how well this will turn out... The supporting female cast doesn't have a lot of experience in ancient (ie. Natalie and Aimee) I have nothing against them. I just hope they don't ruin the show. Hopefully the rest of the cast will make up for it.
I also wonder which role Ruco was supposed to take? Possible Raymond Cho's or maybe completely written off?

  3. I been dying for TVB to film this series but with the confirm cast....im quite disapointed. I just wish there was more of an A list artist in this drama but there does seem to have a couple of experience veteran. Also, with a buget of 40% more than regular drama doesnt sound enough to be a grand production for me . I sure hope most of the scenes are film in hengdian and not from TVB old and small Qing dynasty complex. It's getting really tiring to see the same set all the time.

  4. hmmm something about the costumes look very tacky...hopefully they spend part of the new budget on better costumes

and omg..all this time i thought it was christine kuo..lols its actually aimee?? .. i have nothing against aimee ... but i hope she doesn't have a big part cause she has a very western accent in her voice to begin with. however ... i have a feeling tvb is going to give her a barbaric princess role to fit her voice more or something like that to suit her...

the cast has some good actors though not all of them seem to be the "grand production" type yet. hope this wont disappoint

  5. Natalie was in The Life and Times of a Sentinel. I thought she did pretty well. She's going to be in the King Makers as well, I think. :D

Looking forward to this series. ;D

  6. Haha, your comment about Aimee's costume. I weibo'ed about it when I saw it the first time. But when I looked more properly, it's not the same costume at all, just the blue border and patterns. The middle part is yellow, whereas Selena's is pink. Probably remade with different colors lol.

And why is Raymond standing in the second row when all the more important roles were standing first row (including Edwin and Power)?

  7. To Anonymous:

Raymond Cho's role is older than Wayne's, so doubt that Ruco was supposed to play that role.

    To JingMui:

The costumes were specially made for this series.

Aimee is playing a mischievous princess who is very innocent and playful (which sounds like the typical Aimee role).... :P

    To Anonymous:

Don't think that Natalie handled the ancient speech, gait, or gestures well in "Sentinel".

Yes, Natalie plays a Wayne's sister in "King Makers".

    To Lizzy:

The colours of the costumes are similar. :P

  8. I saw something that confuses me.

Saw in childstar 區珀豪pako仔 weibo that he's playing Tongzhi's young version. In this post: http://www.weibo.com/1725134813/xE4diBCDM He says "兩兄弟" about the other childstar. I found the weibo of this other childstar, 可樂仔_Owen冼海鍩, who is he playing?? From Wikipedia, Tongzhi doesn't have any brothers, nor does his father (Xianfeng Emperor) have any other son. He posted a picture of him and Maggie Siu: http://weibo.com/1939078405/xEiBz7Ndi He calls her "我母后", but Empress Dowager Ci'an doesn't have any children...

Hopefully you can solve this mystery for me. Haha

  9. it looks like they are trying to hold the drama based on the manchu ... like princess pearl except TVB's costumes look kind of weird on them. it's the headsets i think which kind of look tacky the most

perhaps i'd get use to it though,...

And lol, that is also a very Aimee role too

  10. To lizzy:

Not familiar with Chinese history, so can't answer that. Also, TVB tends to not follow history, so not sure about it.

  11. To lizzy:
Even though Empress Dowager Ci'an does not have any children, he still has to call her 母后, as she is the main consort/empress of the king, making her his "mom" whilst empress cixi as her "2nd mom"

    Hope this helps :)
