"In the Eye of the Beholder" Promotional Clip 1

Moses Chan as Wah On vs. Jin Au Yeung as Jin Au Yeung
0102

Crowd: "There's something to see!"

Ha Yu: "My expectations have always been strict. Other than teaching Wah Man and Wan Mo, [you will] also have to handle the Wah Family's important and trivial matters. Are you two ready? Let's start the interview!"

Personal Note: This should be a continuation promo clip, but it is very similar to the secretary competition promo clips for "OL Supreme" though. Catherine copying Tommy?! o_O

So, is it true that Jin and Cho Lam will be singing the theme song for this? Isn't Jin under Universal? For some reason, I thought it was a duet by Moses and Myolie!

  1. Jin is no longer under Universal. I think I heard somewhere that he ended his contract early, or maybe it was Universal that terminated his contract.

Yeah, that's what my sister said too. But, if Jin and Cho Lam do sing the theme, then the theme was recorded in February 2009. Therefore, it's still a Universal song.

If they do sing it, and since TVB is airing it, then TVB probably has the rights to it, as Cho Lam is a TVBer.

I'm not sure, the only guest appearances in "In the Eye of the Beholder" are Wayne Lai, Ram Tseung, and Chow Chung.

  5. All themesongs used for series are copyrighted to TVB, so they are allowed to air this song.

That is only true if TVB Music produced the song.

Series like "The Bund" (Shanghai Beach) cannot be aired as the theme song is copyrighted to one of the four music companies.

  7. Ever since TVB Music was created in 04/05, all themesongs are produced by them therefore is copyrighted to them

That is not entirely true. Yes, TVB has a music department, but TVB does NOT have copyright to all of their series theme songs and sub songs.

For example: Kay Tse's sub song for "Born Rich" (2009) and her theme song for "The Money-maker Recipe" (2008) are NOT TVB copyrighted. They belong to Universal. Kelly Chen's "Phoenix Rising" (2007) is copyrighted by Universal/Go East. Eason Chan's theme song for "Fathers and Sons" belongs to Universal/Cinepoly. Kary Ng's theme song for "Love Exchange" (2008) belongs to Gold Label. Even Moses Chan's sub song for "Land of Wealth" (2006) is NOT copyrighted by TVB.

I can list many more theme songs and sub songs from 2005 and on that are NOT copyrighted by TVB.

So, there are many series TVB cannot re-air due to copyright issues, as TVB and the four music companies (Universal, Warner, Sony, and EMI) have not resolved this copyright issue.

  9. I'm sorry if I didn't explain properly. I mean, all songs that is created by TVB Music, meaning the song that is written by them is part of TVB. For the songs written above, they are not copyrighted to TVB because it is not created by them. For example, all songs sang by Kay is composed by Adrian Chow, Eason's themesong is composed by a Universal Songwriter, while Kary's themsong is created by a composer that belongs to Gold Label.

Yes, theme song and sub songs produced by TVB composers and writers are copyrighted by TVB.

However, in your previous comment you said, "Ever since TVB Music was created in 04/05, all themesongs are produced by them therefore is copyrighted to them". That is the only reason why I had listed those songs produced by other companies that also happen to be a TVB theme or sub song.

  11. Also, Kay's "The Money-maker Recipe" was composed by Cousin Fung and he composed part of "Born Rich" sub with Adrian Chow. ;)
