TVB Sales Presentation 2010 Booklet

2009sales_01
"Cops"

Cast: Michael Miu, Felix Wong, Jessica Hsuan, Nancy Wu, Vincent Wong, Kenny Wong, Stephen Huynh

hyn5: Why is Michael's name first? The storyline is clearly all on Felix. Also, why is Kenny's name in the cast list? He isn't in the series. He probably just filmed the Sales clip.

2009sales_02
"Wu Jie Monk"

Cast: Bosco Wong, Michael Tse, Kate Tsui, Sunny Chan, Lau Siu Ming, Chan Hung Lit

hyn5: A monk-related series reminds me of Gordon Lam's "A Road to Eternity".

2009sales_03
"Quarantined for Seven Days"

Cast: Bobby Au Yeung, Bowie Lam, Myolie Wu, Yoyo Mung, Sonija Kwok, Sammul Chan, Kristal Tin, Evergreen Mak

hyn5: I can't see all of these people filming this series. Did they mess up and place Bobby and Yoyo in here instead of "Forensic Heroes III"? Myolie is wearing Melissa Ng's uniform from "Fantasy Hotel".

2009sales_04
"Five Flavours of Life"

Cast: Roger Kwok, Esther Kwan, Michelle Yim, Ng Wai Kwok, Derek Kwok, Oscar Leung, Vivien Yeo, Mimi Lo, Elena Kong, Regen Cheung

2009sales_05
"Shall We State the Case"

Cast: Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma, Bernice Liu, Astrid Chan, Evergreen Mak, Lee Kwok Lun, Mary Hon, Law Lok Lam, Lee Sing Cheung

hyn5: I love how Ma Ming's story is mentioned in the second paragraph of this storyline. "Tin Hang realizes that he does not want to lose Man Ka". :)

2009sales_06
"Pu Song Ling"

Cast: Steven Ma, Sunny Chan, Linda Chung, Fala Chen, Elliot Yue, Rebecca Chan, Lau Dan, Charmaine Li, Eric Li, Ruco Chan

2009sales_07
"Female Fist"

Cast: Liu Xuan, John Chiang, Jacky Heung, Law Lok Lam, Eric Li

hyn5: This looks like the female version of "The Master of Tai Chi". Liu Xuan will play the fourth wife of Wong Fei Hung (John Chiang). Wong Fei Hung was 40 years older than his fourth wife.

2009sales_08
"Twilight Investigation"

Starring: Wong He, Linda Chung, Raymond Wong, Johnson Lee, Power Chan, Rebecca Chan, Shek Sau, Kingdom Yuen

hyn5: I love the 囧ness! :)

2009sales_09
"Growing Through Life"

Cast: Damian Lau, Cecilia Yip, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Toby Leung, Dominic Lam, Lisa Lui, Zhao Zi Qi, Song Wen Fei

2009sales_10
"Here Comes the Princess"

Cast: Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Linda Chung, Fala Chen, Kenneth Ma, Raymond Wong, Susanna Kwan, Lee Heung Kam, Louis Yuen

hyn5: It is going to be interesting by adding a Tommy side actor (Ma Ming) to an all Catherine-side series and cast. :) The series looks like a cross between "Taming of the Princess" and "The Legendary Four Aces".

2009sales_11
"Forensic Heroes III"

Cast: Kevin Cheng, Raymond Cho, Edwin Siu, Timmy Hung, Lai Lok Yi, Mandy Cho, Leanne Li, Vivien Yeo, Macy Chan, Him Law

hyn5: Why the heck would TVB make part three without Tim Sir, Dr. Koo, and Madam Leung?! There is no way TVB is making this any time soon.

2009sales_12
"Righteous Sea of Heroic Love"

Cast: Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai, Elliot Yue, Raymond Wong, Fala Chen, Ngo Ka Nin, Nancy Wu, Susan Tse, Ben Wong, Kara Hui, Lee Sing Cheung, Kwok Fung, Helen Ma

hyn5: The 'part two' to "Rosy Business".

2009sales_13
"Mind Reading Detective"

Cast: Bowie Lam, Bosco Wong, Kristal Tin, Aimee Chan, Selena Li, Vivien Yeo

hyn5: This sounds like "Lie to Me". Also, why is Aimee's name ahead of Selena's? If this is true, then this is so a Catherine series.

2009sales_14
"Lo Lan, Si Lam, Tsui Ka Wui"

Cast: Fala Chen, Maggie Shiu, Natalie Tong, Steven Ma, Patrick Tang

hyn5: A series about three girls from Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

2009sales_15
"Reunion"

Cast: Roger Kwok, Ron Ng, Kate Tsui, Derek Kwok, Toby Leung, Him Law, Benz Hui

hyn5: A family rival series about sibling relationships.

2009sales_16
"Execution in Autumn"

Cast: Liza Wang, Christine Ng, Joe Ma, Shirley Yeung, Sammul Chan

hyn5: A remake of the classic from 1971. It sounds awesome!

2009sales_17
"Legend of the Hawk and Wolf"

Cast: Kevin Cheng, Tavia Yeung, Chung King Fai, Michelle Yim

hyn5: A series about physical looks not necessarily being what they seem. This sounds as though it will not be filmed...or it sounds like a typical Kevin Cheng series.

2009sales_18
"Sorry, I Love You"

Cast: Louise Lee, Bosco Wong, Elliot Yue, Aimee Chan

hyn5: What is with TVB's titles now?

2009sales_192009sales_202009sales_212009sales_222009sales_232009sales_242009sales_252009sales_26

hyn5: TVB's variety shows in 2010 look very promising! :)

  1. i love your comments for the series you gave.
    they're making a mess now.
    esp fh iii -.-
and sorry ily sounds so much like a tradegy. they'd better not film it.
it looks like they're really promoting to the max. i dont see any series for Sharon Chan. -.-

  2. "Sorry, I love you" is very famous Korean drama, starting So Ji Sub,Lim Soo Jung and one of my fav hyung Jung Kyung Ho. Why does TVB borrow other titles? Dont tell me they wanna remake another series after Jewel in the Palace.

  3. You're so right HYN5, how could TVB make "Forensic Heroes III" without Tim Sir, Dr. Koo, Madam Leung and Madam Ma? That sounds so wrong!

  4. ah thanks for keeping us updated with the sales presentation I have to say, some of them look like crap and I agree with your comment especially on Cops, Felix name should be first than Michael but I think TVB did that because Michael return to tvb before Felix did

  5. alot of the series sound interesting but i dont have high hope as tvb always somehow mess it up. the "seven days" and "princess" series look really good, but i agree the cast is probably not the same if they decide to film it. i also like the "hawk and wolf" b/c im a big tavia and kevin fan but the plot looks bad and yea it doesnt look like they r going to film it. i always thought if there is FH3 it is going to be about charvin but they didnt even include charmaine which make me scratch my head. so in the end the series i look forward the most is "shall we state the case"

  6. Hi hyn,

Saw your comment on Michael name appearing before Felix. , does the sequence of the names TVB place means something?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hey Hyn,
Did they mention anything about "Iron Horse Seeking Bridge"?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  8. If I could make FH3, I'd make it ONLY with Tim Sir, Sam, Siu Yau and Ding Ding.

    Absolutely NO Ivan and Belle.

    ReplyDelete
  9. ^ Too bad for FH2, Mui Siu Ching was ____ enough to kill off Ding Ding and make Siu Yau handicapped so she can't be the Madam leading the team anymore, all to make way for Kevin and Charmaine. =.="

  10. The series filming/filmed already:
Cops, Five Flavours of Life, Shall We State the Case, Pu Song Ling, Crossing the Boundary of Exploration, Growing Through Life

    New series are:
Wu Jie Monk, Seven Days of Love Next Door, Female Fist, Here Comes the Princess, Forensic Heroes III, Righteous Sea of Heroic Love,
Mind Reading Detective, "Lo Lan, Si Lam, Tsui Ka Wui", Reunion, Execution in Autumn, Legend of the Hawk and Wolf, "Sorry, I Love You"

So part of these "new series" are confirmed and others are just to attract advertisers for their series and might not be filmed. Well, do you know which are confirmed?
I don't like any of the new series, except for Here Comes the Princess, Righteous Sea of Heroic Love.

Hyn5, do you know who's the producer of Mind Reading Detective?

  11. To sy:

Sharon has "Searching for Lasting Love" next year.

    To Noah:

Thanks for the info. I'm not really into Korean series, but TVB likes to "borrow" titles from all over the world. :)

    To Diana:

I don't think it has anything to do with Michael returning to TVB before Felix, but rather Michael is a TVB managed artiste.

    To chuchu:

I am really looking forward to "Shall We State the Case", too. :D

    To Anonymous:

The order of names is usually how TVB sees where that artistes' status is placed in TVB.

    To Anonymous:

"Iron Horse Seeking Bridge" was in last year's Sales Presentation.

    To cx839:

I second to that, and I will help you produce it if that is the case. ;P

I swear TVB wanted to kill off Madam Leung, but Mui Siu Ching was the one that didn't want Madam Leung dead.

    To lizzy:

The only new series that is confirmed is "Righteous Sea of Heroic Love", "Here Comes the Princess" and "Reunion".

Roger and Derek are confirmed to film a Nelson Cheung Kin Man's new series, and from what they have described, it is "Reunion". Also, Ron has confirmed that he will film in January. :)

I do not know who the producer for "Mind Reading Detective" is. Nothing is firmed yet. :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I do know that Sharon has Searching For Lasting Love but I meant was that she doesnt have any series in 2010 Sales Presentation. Reunion looks good! I havent seen Kate + Ron after TBOL & OFTB. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Thanks Hyn5,

The order of names is usually how TVB sees where that artistes' status is placed in TVB.

But should't it be according to the role they play in the drama series instead of "artistes' status is placed in TVB." ? Discovering more and more of TVB politics.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Bosco name is placed before Michael Tse in Wu Jie Monk but in TVB, Michael Tse should be of higher status than Bosco?

    ReplyDelete
  15. To Anonymous:

You would think TVB would do that, but status is everything. Politics!
Why do you think they make a big deal if a series receives super high ratings? It doesn't matter how serious or how much money was spent on the production. TVB will always look at ratings first and then the people in it.

    To Anonymous:

Bosco is labelled as a siu sang in TVB. Michael is seen more as a green leaf with some leading roles.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Eh, learning more, what is green leaf?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Green leaf = supporting actor. But actually where Bosco and Michael are concerned, it's difficult to say right now whose status is higher. In this Wu Jie Monk series, it seems more likely the order is due to Bosco being the title character. For the recent 72 Tenants worship ceremony announcement though, Michael's name was placed before Bosco's even though it looks like Bosco has a much meatier role.

    ReplyDelete
  18. To Anonymous:

"Green Leaf" can also mean experienced actor or actress.

"Gold Grass" is used to describe the older actors and actresses with experience like Lau Kong or Lily Leung. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Exactly, how can siu sang have higher status than an experienced actor. Hyn5, thanks for all the information you provided. But am thinking that the sequence of the name does not necessarily means status in TVB but rather the role they played. However, I know too little about TVB to conclude.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Name order is sometimes based on the role, sometimes based on status. Take the new Chilam and Michael Tse series for example, Damian Lau's name is first on the list, yet one can reasonably expect Chilam and Michael to both have more screentime. But usually it's only veteran actors commanding a certain "weight" that gets placed before younger lead actors.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Status and role is important for a name order. But knowing TVB, they will for sure place status over role any day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. i have no idea what tvb is doing especially with fhiii. how can they change all the cast and only keep kevin =.-; makes no sense to me, if they decide to change the entire cast from fhii then might as well change the title.

    ReplyDelete
  23. To hislilangel:

If TVB does decide to film "Forensic Heroes III", it wouldn't be this year because Mui Siu Ching will be filming modern version of "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" in the later half of 2010.
