I will not be responding to any of the comments in this post. This post contains material that is of personal opinion.
Summary:
Steven Ma's contract with TVB as a managed artiste is coming to an end soon. Catherine Tsang wants to renew Steven's contract, but Virginia Lok says Steven 'cannot be in house' (i.e., is not welcoming), so she does not want to extend his contract. Because of the feud between Tsang and Lok, Stephen Chan had to resolve the issue. Stephen said, "Steven is a ratings guarantee because all of his series have high ratings, so that is an indication that he is welcoming".
Personal Note: In my opinion, Steven is one of Miss Lok's least favourite artistes. I don't remember him appearing at her birthday parties, and she rarely mentions him. The only time she mentioned him in the press was during a promotional event for "The Brink of Law" in which she criticized him about only wearing suits and needing an image change. It seems as though Miss Lok is trying to 'get rid of' Steven to 'promote' another person (possibly Kevin Cheng because TVB is trying to put him in ancient series now).
Catherine Tsang would support Steven no matter what because he is like a godson to her.
Virginia Lok's List (in no particular order):
Most Favoured: Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong, Ron Ng, Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Sonija Kwok, Myolie Wu, Linda Chung, Kate Tsui, Vivien Yeo, Christine Kuo, etc.
(She also favours pageant winners.)
Least Favoured: Wong He, Steven Ma, Tavia Yeung, Fala Chen, Raymond Lam, etc.
If you have seen or read Miss Lok's interviews, it is obvious that she does not like those artiste listed in the 'Least Favoured' category. She pretends to like Raymond, Tavia, and Fala because they have gained acceptance/recognition in recent years. (For example, she only expresses her support for Michael Tse after the success of Laughing Gor, and Nancy Wu for her success in "Strictly Come Dancing II".) On a number of occasions, she had criticized Raymond for his weight. She only praised Tavia after the success of "Moonlight Resonance". Miss Lok did not want Fala to play Laughing So; instead, she supported Christine Kuo, who has never acted before.

Oh, I never knew that...but I have always seen people critizing Ms Lok for favouring Linda all the time. I have to say, some of the people she promotes does seem to improvely, slowly.
ReplyDeleteI like the Least Favoured list more, haha. *^o^*
how about kenneth ma?
ReplyDeleteand i thought she likes raymond lam.....
Haha always knew she did not like Tavia. LOl, I also like the least favored list more :)
ReplyDeletehey Hyn, didnt intend to post, but, i was news whereby Raymond was listed under Lok's fav???
ReplyDeleteJust one reply.
ReplyDeleteShe signed Kenneth Ma herself, so she likes him.
She PRETENDS to like Raymond because he is famous and the company favours him. Miss Lok uses Raymond to promote Linda. She was going to have Linda perform at his concert (her schedule didn't work). Raymond didn't want his concert to seem like it was related to TV.
Miss Lok favours Bosco. She said Bosco was going to be more famous than Raymond in singing. People will not believe that Bosco will surpass Raymond in singing.
She even said that Bosco was going to be more famous than Raymond in singing. Do people really believe that Bosco will surpass Raymond in singing?

Very interesting =D I adore Steven Ma ... and every one else on Ms Lok's least favored list. I don't keep up on TVB politics so I had no idea about most of this.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, this gives me another reason to not like Lok :P
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of interesting how everything works, but her least favourites have a lot of my favourites.
I like the least favourite list more too ^^
ReplyDeleteI never followed TVB politics so this was an interesting read...though I always got the feeling Ms Lok didn't really like Raymond- only pretending to support him like you said. E.g the comments she made about his performance at the 'Lets Get Wet' concert.
i see now i know y chung, sheh, cheng, tsui they all get promoted soooo fast n stuff.while others that are doin better then them get nothin.SERIOUSLY CAN SHE REALLY DO THAT N PROMOTED THE PPL SHE LIKES MORE IS NOT FAIR EVERY ARTISTZ SHOULD HAVE A FAIR CHANCE AT ACTIN N SINGIN no wonder y tavia never gets to sing in series cuz she is da producer for dat serie tavia will not have any chances to shine in her series when lok producez them WELL DA BEST BET IS CHENG,CHAN,SHEH THOSE WILL SING DA THEME N SUB THEME FOR BEYOND WOOWWW WOOPYEE DOO NOOOO SURPRISEZZZ!!!!!!!!!!TALK BOUT BAD MANAGEMENT BY SUM MANAGERS/PRODUCERZ.dis list ( Least Favoured) is better den the first list
ReplyDeleteohhh and she likes GIGI LAI too!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda, Moses, Kevin, Kate, Charmaine, Myolie for your favoured list. Not that I dislike the thing about them being favored, but I think Kevin and Linda is too overrated at times.
ReplyDeleteDue to Ron's declining popularity over the years, I personally don't think she like Ron as much as she does in the past. Bosco, on the other hand, gains the advantage out of Ron's declining popularity as Ms Lok is favoring him more. As for the others in the list I don't really have much comments.
For the least favorite least I'll have to agree with Tavia and Wong He. I'm glad Tavia is getting more recognition now.
However, I think she does favor Raymond Lam too. I think Raymond is highly favored by everyone in TVB ever since he entered the company. He is "trained" to be the future no.1 and TVB gives him many chances. He gets all the goody roles and usually sings the sub/theme songs. In addition, I think TVB value Raymond as an important asset unlike Ron when they just tried making the most money out of him once and for all in 2005. Ron filmed a movie, released an album and many more in 2005 even though TVB did not ensure that he is able to do those jobs well. Now, I think Ron is kind of forgotten.
Those are just my personal opinions, personally I don't keep up with TVB's politics so I may be wrong.
