Little Kristy & Charmaine

Picture from http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/kristy19221.

Young Kam Ling taking a picture with Sam Ho...so cute! I wonder why Young Sam Ho has no pictures with Charmaine....

Filming for "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" will wrap up at the end of May. The series is 30 episodes long.

Apparently, Astro on Demand has a press conference for "Beyond" and "Born Rich" on May 22nd. Don't take my word for it because it is not confirmed.

  1. Yeah, that's her concubine hairstyle. Her hairstyle in this series is so 'tall'... maybe because she's rather petite compared to the other ladies in here. Hehe...

AOD press conference sound too good to be true. So many people coming, aren't TVB cutting cost?

After all, they are terminating another 100 staff next week :(

  2. All of the "top" females hairstyles are very high. This hair has to be Charmaine's most heavy one.

Yeah, I can't see so many big people going. It can be fake.

TVB is so 殘忍 for firing 100 more employees.

  3. It's cruel in business world. I don't think that TVB is running out of $$, but they want to cut down expenses for rainy days. The worst thing is that normally in a tv station, most staff are on contractual basis. That means no benefits and not much compensation when you are terminated.

I hope that TVB realize that their staff is actually their asset. Maybe the executives should be given a pay cut, that would save plenty of staff. We all know that TVB pay very little to staffs.

  4. Well said, sehseh! I think Miss Lok is overpaid. She will sign artistes and promote them. Even if they "suck" really bad, she will do all possible to PUSH them to the top.

  5. Though Ms Lok is infamous for promoting the artistes she fancy, I have to defend her in regard of her knack in pinpointing talents in the various artistes. The talent I mean referred to commercial value, and not necessarily acting (or some say singing) talent.

TVB artistes pay is very little. If they only film TVB series they will be starved to death in no time. Even Joe Ma, a contract actor earn less that HKD20,000 per month of salary from TVB. Those who is familiar with HK living expense knows that is quite low pay. Not to mention, these 'artistes' have to live up like a celebrity - clothes, make up, transport etc...

Therefore, a major part of their income come from events, advertisement, product endorsement. And TVB draft a high commission from this amount. Ms Lok is responsible for this. To promote the right artistes to the advertisers and sponsors and keep income flowing in. She doesn't really have that much influence in which artiste to cast in which series, but she make them newsworthy.

  6. Miss Lok is head of artistes department. In order for certain artistes to film in certain series, she has to be able to 放人 to let them be in it. She must have a say in which artiste is to be cast in a series.

There were certain artistes that TVB did not want to sign such as Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong, and Kenneth Ma. Miss Lok signed them personally. Some say she 為o左啖氣 to PUSH KC and Bosco to the top.

  7. Yes you are right. What I should mean is that she doesn't directly influence on who to cast in which series. But she can have a say on people she allowed to be casted on whose production.

I feel that Bosco is not doing too well in his career development in terms of acting. Apart from his role in that mother-in-law series (which in fact was overshadowed by the two leading ladies), his other roles are not given much emphasis. His singing career is just slightly better than Ron. I feel that Bosco and Ron need to focus only one aspect of their career at the moment, namely acting. Only when they have accumulated enough recognition like Ray, they can try to expand into other field.

Due to Ms Lok 'aggressive' promotion, TVB seems to have solved their shortage of young leading actors to carry a series. However, I feel that now it's the actresses turn. What I mean is sure, TVB have popular (young) leading actresses like Myolie, Tavia, Linda, Selena... but they don't have the 'oomph' to carry a series yet.

  8. this all comes down to personal opinion but I feel that Myolie and Tavia DEFINITELY have the "oomph" to carry a series!!! if they can't carry a series, then I dunno who else can...

  9. Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not doubting Myolie and Tavia's acting talent. And obviously they are already leading series of their own.

It's just that there's something... I just can't put my finger on it...

Then again, it's just my personal opinion.

  10. Young actors/actress are good, but they are still cast in series with the older actors so they can learn from them.

I see a difference in Bosco and Ron's singing road. Ron was under BMA when he was a newbie singer. BMA is not a great company to promote newbies. Ron had to compete with 實力派 newbies such as Justin, Khalil, Janice, Kay, Ivana, Soler, etc. Whereas Bosco in under a big company, East Asia. Look at the influence that company can do. I can only think of G.E.M. and Tat Dik with better vocals in Bosco's year. There was also Cho Lam, but he wasn't really promoted as a singer.

Plus, Bosco 'thinks' he can sing. Did you anyone watch the JSG year end awards where his name was picked out of a hat to sing with Eason? He was so bad that TVB edited that part out and deleted (most of) that clip from youtube.

  11. "Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong, and Kenneth Ma. Miss Lok signed them personally. "

this is such as joke. as like you guys said, Ms Lok promotes people as idols, celebrities than actors/actresses, but TVB is TV station, they cant survive if they lack of talents
