Bobby Au Yeung, Esther Kwan, John Tang, Vivian Lee, Julian Cheung, Almen Wong, Joh Yung, and Michael Tong were the guests on this episode, which aired on October 22, 1997.

Personal Note: Ha ha.... Bobby and Esther were always good at the toast game! :D

Funny how Bobby stopped to see whether Joh Yung chose the correct door before running through it himself! :D

A Blast from the Past: 1998 ATV Anniversary Cook-Off

"ATV Anniversary 1998"

Here are some clips from ATV's anniversary cook-off (1998), which was hosted by Stephen Au and Kristy Yang.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

Kenneth Chan & Thomas Lam vs. Alice Chan & Belinda Hamnett

Funny how Stephen thought that Thomas knew how to cook; however, Thomas later explained that that wasn't the case! :P Stephen also said that he had tried Alice's cooking before, and he also praised her cooking skills! :)

Kenneth didn't really have to cook. He was only required to make the sauce for the crab legs, which didn't work out. :P

Gilbert Lam, Andrew Yuen & Thomas Lam vs. Joey Meng, Annie Man & Alice Chan

Joey had great knife skills! Even Stephen said that it only took Joey one lesson to learn that skill. :) Ha ha.... Funny how she cut off the lettuce ribs! :D

Quite funny watching Annie 'saw' the chicken thigh! :P

Alice said that she learned how to cook after marriage; however, her cooking skills can be seen in this show. :)

Didn't like how Gilbert ripped the tails off the shrimps....

Andrew's pastry shell didn't look appealing, especially compared to the prepared version.... :P

A Blast from the Past: Siu Sangs Compete for Prizes @ 1998 TVB Anniversary

This was a segment from 1998's TVB Anniversary in which members of the drama team were competing for the last spot for a chance to win anniversary prizes. The male artistes initially played musical chairs, and then the final four (Nick Cheung, Bobby Au Yeung, Roger Kwok, and Lawrence Ng) ate spicy noodles to see who would be the one to advance.

After Roger advanced, he ended up winning the second-place prize, which was a car (in the following anniversary, Roger also ended up winning a flat). Joyce Chan won the top prize (which was a flat), while Wong Man Biu won the third-place prize.

Personal Note: Really miss the siu sangs and fa dans from those years!

Personal Note: "Super Trio" is still my favourite game show of all time! :D

Ruco Chan in "A Kindred Spirit"

Ruco Chan and Hawick Lau both graduated from TVB's 1994 Acting Class. The first series that I watched Ruco in was "To Love with Love", where he played Nadia Chan's younger brother.

In "A Kindred Spirit", Ruco played Hawick's friend, who went on a trip with him. When Hawick's character, On Jai, first appeared in the sixth episode of the series, I initially thought that Ruco was the one who was playing Cha Siu Bing's youngest son. Later, I found out that Lau Dan and Hawick are father and son in real life.

Steven Ma & Esther Kwan @ "Super Trio" 1999

Steven and Esther were paired up for the Bom Cha Cha skit on "Super Trio" 1999.

Steven: Can you not walk back and forth?
Esther: What?! You're not saying anything. I'm bored! I have to walk around.
Steven: That's enough!

(Dancing to Aaron Kwok's

Steven: There isn't anything I dare not to say, but you are so mean. I'm scared.
Esther: I can be meaner I tell you!
Steven: Hey! Don't bug me! No! I don't want it!

(Dancing to cancan music)

Esther: Are you going to talk now!
Steven: Please, I beg you. Don't be so mean.
Esther: I have not seen a cop like you before.
Steven: Don't take my glasses. I can't see.
Esther: Fine, fine! I'll give it back to you!
Steven: Well, it's my first day at work. I don't know what kind of questions to ask you. You were very bold to steal that old man's underwear. And it wasn't even washed.
Esther: Do you have one in there?

(Dancing to Vivian Chow, Linda Wong, and Karen Tong's

Steven: I'll ask you for the last time. Do you admit to this crime?
Esther: Hmph!
Steven: Answer me!
Esther: Hey! Do you have to be so mean?

Personal Note: I swear Mainland likes airing this season of "Super Trio".

A Blast from the Past: Johnson Lee Imitates Heavenly Four Kings

Johnson Lee imitates Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, and Leon Lai @ 1998

You'll be surprised at how many people not knowing this was from 1998's 叱吒 music awards (presented in January 1999).

Johnson was invited as a guest because of his voice imitation talents. Johnson later became a singer in 2000.

Songs:

Andy Lau 《
Aaron Kwok 《
Aaron Kwok 《
Leon Lai 《
Aaron Kwok 《

Personal Note: Johnson was so young! He was turning 25 that year. I remember watching his MV for "Cyber Love 2000". It was very cheesy! Ha ha.... :)

Anyway, out of all the people who imitate the 'Four Heavenly Kings', I think Johnson's imitation of Leon's vocals is the closest. Leon's voice is very difficult to imitate because no one has his singing voice. Not even Fung Man Lok from "Minutes to Fame" can imitate Leon's voice. :)

A Blast from the Past: Steven Ma's Crush on Ada Choi

Steven was on an episode of "Jade Solid Gold" in 1999 to plug his new song, "Rose and Ka Ming". At that time, his crush for Ada Choi had just surfaced.

In the blink of an eye, this incident had happened 10 years ago, and Ada is now happily married. I always get a tickle listening to what Steven's friends had to say about his crush. Ha ha.... :D

Steven's friends commenting on his crush.

Jessica Hsuan: Me guess? It is only news. You must laugh after reading it. But if he should have a crush on someone, he should have a crush on me. I think I'm pretty good!

Florence Kwok: I heard that the person he has a crush on already has a boyfriend. But when I film with him, I feel that he has a crush on me. I tell him, "I'm your older sister. You have no chance".

Flora Chan: Does Steven have a crush on anyone? Doesn't Steven have a crush on me? I remember the first time filming a music video with him, "Honey", and we had to film a kiss scene. Did you ever hear of kissing in music videos? Seriously! After that kiss, I knew he started to have a crush on me. Also, I know that he has a crush on my best friend, Ada. Is it true? Is it true? Steven, you answer me.

"Honey" MV

"Should Not Have Happened" MV

He he.... Funny how Flora said that Steven liked Taiwan girls because his current girlfriend is Taiwanese. :)

A Blast from the Past: Flora Chan Returns to TVB

Here is a clip of Flora Chan returning to TVB after leaving to rest in the states for three months. It should be around late February or early March because she left on November 18, 1999. (This is where it doesn't make sense. Flora waved goodbye to the camera on November 18, 1999, but she was at TVB's 32nd Anniversary, and she won 'My Favourite Couple' with Gallen Lo for "Feminine Masculinity".)

The clip was very warm and touching. Flora was so big that TVB held a press conference for her return. Gallen Lo, Bowie Lam, Nick Cheung, Ada Choi, Liza Wang, and Kenix Kwok were very happy to see Flora. The cast of "At the Threshold of an Era" was still filming the second half of the series. Nick was filming "The Legendary Four Aces" because he was still in costume, while Bowie was filming "The Green Hope". This clip reminds me of Flora's win at TVB's 35th Anniversary.

Flora likes to touch the other person's face after she hugs them. Ha ha....

This is why Flora is my favourite! She is so loved by her friends and colleagues! Her down-to-earth personality and her grace are just too awesome for me to come up with other words to describe, so I'm going to just go with 'awesome'.

A Blast from the Past: 1997 TVB Chinese New Year MV

Artistes: Gallen Lo, Jessica Hsuan, Gordon Lam, Mariane Chan, Michael Tao, Esther Kwan, Winnie Yeung, Louis Koo, Maggie Cheung, Sunny Chan, Felix Wong, and Astrid Chan.

Personal Note: For some reason, Maggie didn't have a solo part in singing. The girls were horrible! Jessica sounded the best amongst all the girls. Ha ha.... Louis and Sunny were bad, too.

A Blast from the Past: Wong He & Bowie Lam

This picture was from 1999 or 2001, and He and Bowie seemed liked friends back then. He and Bowie were rumoured to have had disagreements with each other while hosting TVB's variety programme 《江山美人》 in 2006.

He started to change the dialogue in the scripts since his first series, "Nothing to Declare". He first discusses it with the director or the producer; if they "okay" it, then the script is changed. However, He stopped his habit from "Fathers and Sons" and on.

I don't know, but Virginia Lok referred to He as 'troublesome' (麻煩) when they had only met once.

麻煩 or not, I still think He changes the script for the better.

P.S. He and Bowie's foreheads were very shiny! Ha ha....

TVB 'Four Dong Ka Fa Dan' Songs

Listen to TVB's 'Four Dong Ka Fa Dan' in their first solo song!
Flora Chan's live version of "Colours of the Wind".
In 1999, Kenix Kwok and Ada Choi released an EP called 《愛在今天》, along with Noel Leung Siu Bing, and Francis Ng.
Jessica Hsuan's song was from 1997's TVB anniversary series "A Recipe from the Heart".

*Maggie Cheung never had a solo song in TVB.

Colours of the Wind (Live Version) - Flora Chan

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name
Thinking only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the Eagle tell where he's been?
Can you paint with all the voices of the mountains?
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind?
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind?

Upon the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around us
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are our brothers
The heron and the otters are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or let the Eagle tell where he's been?
Can you paint with all the voices of the mountain
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind
Can you paint with all the colours of the wind

How high does the sycamore grow?
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon

For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to paint with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colours of the wind

You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colours of the wind

Woo Ho

Woo Ho

A Blast from the Past: "Triumph in the Skies"

Thankfully, Stephen Wong was in the series, or else I wouldn't have found these pictures of "Triumph in the Skies". The good 'S4' days! Look! Ma Ming is standing beside Nancy! Ha ha....

These pictures were taken during filming in 2002. Back then, Sammul and Bosco were very good friends. They didn't seem as though they were friends during the filming of "The Price of Greed". I guess Sammul was upset that one of the 'Six Olympic Stars' smeared him behind his back. It is quite evident that it was Bosco. It's not Lai Lok Yi, and it is not Raymond, Ron, or Ma Ming. Sammul had a great time filming "The Four".
