After leaving TVB for six years, Tavia Yeung has returned to film "Darkside of the Moon", admitting that she was nervous about the viewers' reaction after not filming series for a long time, and was even more worried about her own performance. She frankly said that, leaving the work environment, she was afraid of making mistakes and regressing. The viewers' reaction has proven the strength of Tavia's ability: "Actually, I had not filmed a series for two years. The previous one was 'Modern Dynasty'. Was Previously Worried That It Would Be Difficult to Play a Dark Character
Talking about Producer Chung Shu Kai finding Tavia to star this time, she admitted that she was also worried at the time: "Actually, I was not sure whether I could do it or not. All in all, is it persuasive for a mother who is still taking care of her children to have to play the kind of character with a dark heart? I also played villains before; however, this time, it is not utterly villainous. It is a character that crosses boundaries. As for Director Kai's work pushing out Charmaine Sheh with three TV queens last year, Tavia laughingly said that she had not considered the 'formula for success' in it, frankly saying that [she] considered the story and a complete behind-the-scenes team. Most importantly, they have matching goals and are people who pursue perfection. "Director Kai is someone who is willing to constantly improve. There may be some areas that are a bit uncomfortable when acting it out; there would also be adjustments after discussing it with him. Does Not Regret Giving Up the Best Time to Go Up North
"Darkside" has become a hit in Mainland, causing Tavia to be popular with the Mainland audience, and there will be a lot of work afterward. Tavia chose to step back from the front line during the hottest period for artistes to go up north to develop, getting married to her husband, Him Law, and starting a family. Regarding this, she expressed that she would not think that it was a pity and believes that performance opportunities would come one after another. "When [you] reach a stage in [your] life, you will encounter it. Sometimes missing out would also be a good thing because you have achieved yourself and completed other things. I have never looked back at opportunities in the past. If there is even more work due to "Darkside", I would also be happy to do it. A lot of Mainland actors are also very young and also have excellent resources and advantages. Sometimes when [I] go to Mainland, would discover that our circle is also very small".
As for leaving her family to go work in other places, would her two children approve of it? Tavia laughingly said that she has always called the shots because she also has to work hard to make money for her children. Would also work out the schedule with Him before accepting jobs. She laughingly said, "Can also let me take a breather. I find filming series comfortable. Have to focus on many things at the same time when taking care of children. When filming a series, only need to focus on one thing; thus, filming series, for me, is like going on a vacation. I enjoy it very much".
Asking if she had planned on making a full comeback as a working mother early on, Tavia laughingly said that she has never stepped down, but it is true that series would not be accepted as intensively as before. Although [she] can choose jobs now, between work and family, family still comes first. "I only regretted it once. That was when I went to film 'Modern' when my daughter was six months old. Once [I] came back, my daughter completely changed...did not grow up in the direction that I had hoped and became a bit dependent on others. At that time, I felt that I had missed a lot. However, I also have to work hard to make money, and also want to maintain [my] passion for work because I don't want to be out of touch. Don't want to just be a housewife, especially a mom who cannot cook".
Highly Praises Lin Xia Wei for Being a Pleasant Surprise When Acting as a Villain
Regarding viewers talking about Tavia's acting skills and expressions being on point, she laughingly said that she also looked back on her past performances before filming and felt that [she] also acted very exaggeratedly a lot of the time in the past, laughingly saying that viewers are very smart now...can't satisfy them just by acting with force; rather, it is only when using the eyes to convey the inner drama would viewers pay attention and carefully analyze and would spark discussion. Asked whether there would be another series soon, Tavia frankly said that there are many series being discussed. As long as the household is arranged without worries, [she] can start working. Asking whether Him causes her to be at ease, she said that her husband has indeed helped a lot, admitting that the support of her family members is very important, giving her a lot of strength.
As for her two partners, Lin Xia Wei and Priscilla Wong, Tavia previously filmed a pre-modern series with Lin Xia Wei. She said that she was a pleasant surprise when acting as a villain this time, highly praising Xia Wei as an actor with requirements, pointing out that her role was more difficult to play than hers and feels that she is always broadening her acting horizons. As for 'younger sister' Priscilla, she laughingly said that Priscilla is a little greenhouse flower in the series; however, in reality, she is a talkative and well-behaved girl. As for the competition for this year's TV queen, Tavia's performance has been described by viewers as being 'determined to win'. In light of Charmaine's successful return last year, viewers are more focused on whether she can win more than one TV queen award. Speaking of viewers focusing on Tavia, she expressed that there would not be too much pressure, but the awards presentation is indeed different from the past.
