"Rosy Business" Ranked Number One @ 2009 Television Programme Appreciation Index Survey

The results for the "2009 Television Programme Appreciation Index Survey" were announced yesterday, and TVB's "Rosy Business" received an average of an Appreciation Index of 80.83, ranking in at number one. It is also the only TV series in the top ten, as the rest are news and variety programmes. Apart from "Rosy Business", TVB also has three other programmes in the top ten list: "Tuesday/Sunday Report", "News Magazine", and "Being". The other six are RTHK programmes.

The Appreciation Index reports a total of 201 programmes that aired last year. In the bottom ten, ATV has five programmes, which includes 《男人做晒》 and "Here Comes the Mammon". TVB has two programmes in the bottom ten, which are "Miss Hong Kong Pageant 2009" (ranked 200) and "A Bride for a Ride" (ranked 198). Cable TV has the other three programmes in the bottom ten, which includes 《郭晶晶 豪門彈板跳》 (ranked 201) and 《串爆娛樂》.

Since the survey began, this is the first time that a series placed number one overall. In 1998, "Healing Hands" was placed number two overall.

Summary:

Chin Ka Lok Wants to Be This Year's 'Best New Singer'

Chin Ka Lok, Sammul Chan, Nancy Wu, and the rest of the cast of "A Bride for a Ride" were at a promotional event. After this promo, Sammul said that he will be leaving to Heng Dian to film a Mainland series: "Louisa So is in the states and Gigi Wong is back in Canada, so Ka Lok will be responsible for playing many characters at the later promos".

This is Chin Ka Lok's second time being main, and it is his first time singing a TVB theme song. He laughed, "I will be fighting for the award of 'Best New Singer' at the year-end music presentation ceremonies, and I will be fighting 'Chai Gau' Wayne Lai for TVB's 'Most Improved Actor' award. (Are you afraid that your singing would affect the ratings?) Actually, it is the producer who requested that I sing the theme song. Thus, there was nothing for me to be afraid of".

My sister told me that it is Wong Cho Lam singing the female part. Now that she had said that, it does sound like Cho Lam's girl voice. Ha ha....

Personal Note: No wonder Sammul said that the theme song was very hard for him to sing! It is because he had to rap! The theme reminds me of Jay Chou's "Huo Yuan Jia". He he....

Chin Ka Lok is very fitted for the character of Wong Lo Fu. Catherine Chau's character sleeps all the time, so you can see her in the back sleeping when Nancy Wu is acting. A female voicing staff dubbed all of Sammul's dressing up as a girl scenes in the series. Ha ha... This is going to be Louisa So's second time playing Gigi Wong's daughter-in-law. Ha ha....

This is not Chin Ka Lok's first leading role because, in 1999, he filmed Amy Wong Sam Wai's "A Matter of Business" with Ada Choi.

In the series, Louisa is a great fighter; even Chin Ka Lok is not her match.

Sammul has to pose as a woman in one the scenes in order to seduce Chin Ka Lok. Sammul also laughed and said that, out of all the siu sangs, his female look is the most realistic.

Nancy said that she will study Yam Bak's version of Tong Bak Fu and also Stephen Chow's "Flirting Scholar" as homework for the new series. She also added that she is bad at holding back her laughs, so she is afraid of NGs.

Rumoured Script: Sammul was dressed as a girl because Chin Ka Lok's family objects to Sammul going out with Nancy. Thus, Sammul and his friend, 'Juk Chi San', will trick Chin Ka Lok. Sammul dresses up as a girl to seduce Chin Ka Lok. Chin Ka Lik "snatches" girl-Sammul back to his house, and lock girl-Sammul in Nancy's room. The night goes by and, in the morning, they find out that Sammul was only posing a girl. Thus, Chin Ka Lok's family had to allow Sammul and Nancy to get married. Therefore, Sammul is the 'bride'. Ha ha...
