Kenneth Ma plays the doctor 'Tong Ming' in the series "Big White Duel II", and his relationship with 'So Yi', played by Natalie Tong, is full of ups and downs. In real life, Kenneth and his girlfriend of three years, Roxanne Tong, are sweetly in love, even living together earlier.
Forty-eight-year-old Kenneth experienced the unpredictability of life during the filming of "Big II". In addition, the pandemic has lasted for more than two years, becoming a catalyst in his relationship with his girlfriend, Roxanne, cherishing their time together even more and having the idea of getting married. "We have discussed it...already have a preliminary plan to move toward marriage. The only obstacle is the back and forth of the pandemic. Even if going to a foreign country to get married, everyone will have to quarantine. If it has been arranged, but there is another outbreak, it would be very troublesome. two years due to the pandemic. Thus, have to reconsider and look at the timing again".
Kenneth, who is turning 50 in two years, does not oppose to having children: "Raising two cats now; it's like two children. I am treating it like taking care of kids. They are very clingy...wake me up at 5am every morning, shouting about having to eat breakfast and kicking up a fuss to get me go out to the living room to play with them before being willing to let me go...very adorable. However, raising people is harder than raising cats. If a child is arriving, I am also okay...also like children. Hear people say that the feeling of embracing your own children is very interesting".
Influenced by Girlfriend to Have Increased Fashion Taste
Has been dating Roxanne for three years; the more love there is, the more high-profile [they] have become. Kenneth recently made it public that [they] have a love nest in Tseung Kwan O, which is convenient for going to work and enjoying the world of two people. He also admitted that, after living together, there have been major changes. "[When] I was living with my parents, was only responsible for tidying my own room. Now, I often do housework because I love to clean and like everything in order. Roxanne is more casual when putting things down. I would also do other housework...washing clothes, sweeping the floor, and scooping up poop. After the cats go to the toilet, the cat litter would scatter on the floor. Also afraid that they would lick the fur on the floor; swallowing it would affect their health".
Kenneth, who has always loved playing soccer, laughingly said that he used to go to the stadium more often. Now, a new spot has been added, which is visiting the pet store to buy food and daily necessities for his beloved cats. His lifestyle has been influenced by Roxanne, as his fashion taste has increased. "Roxanne would pay attention to fashion brands...know more and have gained a greater understanding from her. Would add a bit of fashion according to the occasion, but of course, not all items bought would be expensive clothes".
Pays Attention to His Health, Has a Check-Up Every Year
Kenneth lamented that it is not easy being a man in Hong Kong. One person earns money to support one's parents and children. The outbreak of the pandemic and the economic downturn have made his life more difficult, causing him to start to build more assurance in many aspects. He said, "Heard a lot of cases when filming this series. Even young people may get sick. During the pandemic, realized that the body is very brittle. If one encounters a serious illness, may need to use a lot of money, so now, [I] would take on more work [when] I have free time. I am starting to get older...have had physical check-ups every year for the past two or three years. Usually learn about the tea ceremony and preserving one's health from my dad, and have eaten less dessert. Hired a nutritionist to help me with my nutritional supplements, and with the addition of exercise, hope to be able to maintain good health".
Kenneth regards Felix Wong and Eddie Cheung as his goals, hoping to reach their level one day. Can slowly reduce output, only accept commercial performances to make money, and play soccer with friends in [his] free time, but laughingly said that [he] has a long while before the shore can be seen. "In this era, long-term planning may not necessarily be useful. The world is changing so fast, and many things happen suddenly, so would only plan things for one or two years".
Hopes to Challenge Comedy Again
Kenneth won TVB's TV king for the first time with the series "Big White Duel" three years ago. The sequel, "Big II", is being led by him again for him to show off his acting skills. Continuing the good feedback for the previous installment, it is said that TVB is paving the way for him to win TV king again this year. Kenneth expressed that healthcare workers and firefighters save people's lives. Filming this kind of subject matter in today's current situation is rather advantageous, and it is easy for viewers to give extra credit. "Have been in the industry for 22 years. Also very happy looking back. Have met a lot of friends. Filming is a job that I like. Have played a lot of characters that [I] like. [My] three favourite series are 'The Hippocratic Crush', 'The Exorcist's Meter', and 'Big White Duel', playing doctors in two of them. Actually, I filmed 'Burning Flame II'. Hope to have an opportunity to shoot a series with a firefighter theme again in the future, or challenge conedy again. Went on the variety programme 'Super Trio Returns' earlier. Greatly admire Eric Tsang, Louis Yuen, and Chin Ka Lok for knowing how to set up the atmosphere...really want to know how to make people happy like them".
