In 2019, Kenneth Ma successfully became a TV king with the role of 'Tong Ming' in "Big White Duel". This time, he is playing 'Tong Ming' again in the sequel "Big White Duel II", getting entangled in a lukewarm get realistic relationship with his good partner, Natalie Tong, moving a lot of viewers and becoming popular with viewers in China and Hong Kong. From being in love to separating, the two's every stage became a hot topic among series fans. Speaking of the popularity of the two's performance, Kenneth expressed, "This time, this relationship is more realistic; it is very close to real life. Natalie and [I] played lovers who became friends; she handled both kinds of relationships very well, as she is already TV queen-level. Actually, the characters' personalities did not change much. At that time, when a sequel was discussed, the producer also said that he would not add too many things to the characters, so we also performed with the personalities and the feelings of the first installment".

Kenneth also pointed out that 'Tong Ming' is one of his favourite characters. He laughingly said, "I have seen Producer Marco Law's 'Law dis-Order'. Alex Fong's role is extremely good in there; his personality is one that is not concerned with worldly affairs. In the end, don't know if he still remembers, but the role of 'Tong Ming' was given to me in the end. The personality is a bit like the one that Alex played at the time, and 'Tong Ming''s personality is also quite similar to mine because I have been an actor for so long, and [I] have only been acting".

Won TV King but No Major Impact

Donning a white coat again to play 'Tong Ming' this time, Kenneth was previously crowned TV king for the role and has already become one of the hot favourites from the hot discussion. However, the competition is quite big this time; in the same series, there are already two TV king-level partners, Roger Kwok and Moses Chan. After hearing this, Kenneth expressed that he does not dare to compete with the two of them. He laughingly said, "Both are my big seniors. Certainly don't have to talk about Roger. Actually, when I was studying, Moses was already acting; thus, I grew up watching his movies...remember that he acted in 'The Legend of Speed'. Many people in this industry have seniority over me. Even watched Ruco's movies when [I] was studying. At that time, I didn't even think about entering the industry. All are my seniors".

Entering the industry through the artiste training class in 1999, performing in front of the screen for the first time in 2000, and having received the ten-year long-term service award twice, it was not until 2019 that Kenneth became a TV king. He laughingly said, "What most people describe is that my personality is not suitable to be in the entertainment industry. My personality is Zen...not proactive enough and not ambitious. Am born with this kind of life...it is my attitude toward life. (Nothing has changed you all these years?) Really none because, [if] there is no hope, then there is no disappointment. Even though [I] won TV king, there is not too much of an impact. You ask me if I want to win it again. I am more realistic...want to win cash...ha ha! Would focus more on health now. Can only take care of family when one is healthy. Family is definitely at the top of the list. Many people ask why [I] don't go to Mainland. I actually don't mind, but I can't leave. My parents are still in Hong Kong...at most, can only go for two or three weeks. Hope that the pandemic would end soon so that it would be easier to go in and out, and work would be much more convenient".

Playing with Cats Is Like Taking Care of Babies

Kenneth has recently rented a unit in Tseung Kwan O with Roxanne Tong, whom he has been dating for two years. The two are even raising a pair of ragdolls, suddenly becoming a 'family of four'. Talking about the two 'masters' in the house, Kenneth is as sweet as when he talks about his girlfriend. Kenneth, who has already become a cat slave, said with a smile, "The pair of cats has greatly changed me. Playing with the cats every day is like taking care of children. Would also welcome me when [I] go back home...an extremely good personality and stay close to me. I have no concept of raising cats. It was Roxanne who suggested that we raise cats. Only had a dog when [I] was young...it was a stray dog. However, cats are much easier to care for. The female cat follows Roxanne, while the male cat would cling to me more". Raising cats has brought a lot of fun to Kenneth. Would [he] also be able to take care of children? Good brothers Kevin Cheng and Jazz Lam are both fathers; Kenneth admitted that he has heard a lot: "What [I] heard the most is that taking care of children is hard work. Breastfeeding and no sleep, but it is still something that happens in stages. When the child you are embracing is your own, the feelings would be very strong. They would complain a hundred words of hard work, and then they would say that, seeing [them], you will feel that everything is worth it, and everyone ends up having a sweet face, especially Moses! (Would you be persuaded to quit after hearing this?) Quit? Would not. [If you] see me raising two cats, then [you] would know that I am a homebody...really like being at home, so have also imagined how it would be like to have children".

The Cohabitation Life Is Not Without Friction

Kenneth and Roxanne's love is so sweet that they are at the stage of cohabitation and a trial marriage. Roxanne is even being described as the 'first girlfriend who has stepped into Kenneth's house'. After hearing this, he said, "Actually, it was not that [we] wanted to live together. It was because of the pandemic. We have to work but don't always wear a mask. Afraid that [our] families would be affected due to [our] work, so we rented a place in Tseung Kwan O because it is close to the company; this was the original intention". Being under the same roof, the two's relationship has gotten closer. Kenneth laughingly said that there has also been friction due to this: "It wouldn't be completely without friction. Also had some when I lived with my parents, but this matter has changed me a lot, especially in doing housework. Doing the laundry and the dishes, I would usually leave them to my parents. Now, it's just the two of us. In comparison, I can't endure it because I have a bit of OCD...would take the initiative do it when [I] see that it's messy and dirty, whereas she is more easygoing. Perhaps it just so happens that I have some time off recently, so I have been doing it more".

Marriage Is a Post-Pandemic Matter

Does living together represent a big step forward in their relationship? Kenneth laughingly said that he does not know how to describe it: "It's a very natural way. When you have gotten along for a period of time, everything also works well together. Feel very happy, and then able to move forward. I am a homebody, so the entire matter is also very comfortable. Of course, we have also discussed getting married. Want everything to be able to be planned better, and have also fantasized about a life with children. It doesn't matter to me if it's a boy or girl. As for how many years it'll be when it happens, leaving it to fate". Kenneth also knows Roxanne's whereabouts, revealing that she is going to Australia for filming work at the end of the month, laughingly saying that she is a 'travel dweller' in the industry. She, who has not travelled for more than two years, can finally fulfill her urge to travel, but it also pains [him] that she has to quarantine when she returns to Hong Kong. Why is he not tagging along since he has some time off? Kenneth laughingly said that he has to stay in Hong Kong to play soccer, and he also has to take care of the pair of cats at home. He hopes that they are able to go abroad to watch soccer together in the future...believes that Roxanne would be willing to wear a soccer jersey with him to support the team that [he] loves. Asking if a destination wedding is one of his plans, Kenneth laughingly said, "I also want to have a destination wedding...have to learn from Edwin Siu. We are both artistes, but also don't want the wedding to be doing a show. In addition, know too many friends in this industry...don't want to not invite whomever and then offend everyone". Kenneth also admitted that he believes that marriage will be a matter after the pandemic, as there are still too many restrictions under the pandemic. Kenneth, who currently has some time off, revealed that he will not be filming a series until the end of the year. He hopes to have time to watch the World Cup before he starts working. During this period of time, he can have time off and seize the opportunity to make money. He said with a smile, "Haven't had time off in a long time. Almost had no time off last year. Even though 'Kids' Lives Matter' aired, didn't have the opportunity to do interviews and chat with everyone. Originally had some time during the summer holiday to go to Mainland to make money, but was cancelled in the end due to the pandemic after quarantining for two weeks, and was also called back to Hong Kong to shoot 'The Invisibles'. Finally have some time off this time". Kenneth laughingly said that artistes often have a lot of work when they win awards and are getting married, but he has not felt it yet due to the pandemic. Now that the current situation has been updated, hope that pet and household advertisements look for him.
