To be honest, I am not a fan of series that revolve around big family, love, hate, and revenge. SOH is one of the series that made me change my biased opinion. 同樣係天地嘅《天地男兒》﹐個人認為呢個《天地豪情》絕對勝過前者. Not much has to be said for this series because everyone who watches TVB series should know how the story goes.

What attracted me to watch the series was the seven main characters (excluding Kathy Chow). After finishing the series, I started to notice Melissa Ng (her second series at the time).

Just like every TVB big family series, the love story is divergent.

Ching Ka Ming loves Winson Chek Seung Man, but Winson loves Apple (for at least two-thirds of the show).
Michael Kam Sue Sang loves Ka Ming, but Ka Ming loves Winson.
Mandy Ching Ka Wei loves Michael, but Michael loves Ka Ming.
Ching Ka Hung loves Diana Suen Wah, but Diana loves Kelvin Kam Leung Wang (Diana later loves Ka Hung).

The most pitiful characters in the series belong to Mandy Ching Ka Wei, Jo Kam Fung Yan (Melissa Ng), and Kelly Tung Yeuk Yin because they were never loved and had to give up their valuable lives for it.

Nick Cheung deserved every bit of the award for 'Most Improved Actor' that year for his performance as the evil Kelvin Kam Leung Wang. Everybody hated Kelvin and hoped that he would die a horrible death. Many audience members complained that the outcome of Kelvin dying was not cruel enough.

On May 10, 1998, the final episode of SOH was aired. Many said too many people died in the show. Only four of the eight main characters lived. Some complained that the rhythm was too fast-paced and that the ending was rushed. Some even complained that the storyline was not reasonable and Ching Ka Hung's (Sunny Chan) idiocy was too excessive. I have a different opinion. I thought the story was very attractive. Viewers are supposed to be watching series where it is opposite to reality. As for Ching Ka Hung, I agree that he is stupid. Other than Kelvin, Ka Hung was the other one I kept yelling at. Does this kind of person even exist in the world?

As for the ending, I was happy that Winson and Ka Ming were able to end up together after losing all of the ones closest to them.

Only two words can define SOH: 'good' and 'classic'. I believe that the characters in the series have left a deep impression in viewers' hearts.

Can never forget "Secret of the Heart".
