Producer Chan Kiu Ying revealed [today] that the new series is temporarily titled "12 Nights of a Beauty Pageant", with Yeung Chiu Hoi and Yoyo Chen acting as the male and female leads: "Originally, there were a few candidates for the female lead, but after 'Dub-of-War', decided to look for Yoyo! I revisited 'Sunshine Heartbeat' and 'Life After Death, and saw that she performed very well. Don't want to waste a TVB actor who is willing to change herself!" As for the story of "12", the main line will be a popular beauty pageant contestant suddenly falling into a coma, and is suspected to have been attacked. Yoyo, a policewoman, infiltrates the beauty pageant to investigate the case, bringing out the hidden secrets of each contestant. The plot is mixed with suspense and mystery.
Borrowing Miss Hong Kong's Real Locations to Shoot
Chan Kiu Ying pointed out that Yoyo's policewoman character is down-to-earth: "Will not be like the policewoman in past TVB series with fake eyelashes. This time, the policewoman she is playing speaks very straightforwardly, has an androgynous look and does not put on pretty makeup, and may cut her hair short. Doing [our] best to bring back a real policewomance's appearance!" He revealed that Yoyo feels that the role is very challenging: "Once she heard the role, also said that there was a lot of difficulty. See how the production designer touches it up again!" As for Yeung Chiu Hoi, who is also levelling up to a leading role, the role is not that of a television station producer as reported, but an ordinary police officer who helps Yoyo infiltrate a television station to investigate a case. Crystal Fung will battle it out with Yoyo in the beauty pageant. Chan Kiu Ying expressed that the new series will start filming in the middle of next month. After consulting with executive Eric Tsang, the series will borrow the real locations of this year's Miss Hong Kong Pageant to shoot to share the resources: "'12' is not fighting and scheming or an exposé; instead, it explores how females distort personal values for fame and fortune. Hong Kong has not had this kind of series in a long time!"
