- Pre-modern lighthearted comedy.
- The series revolves around a village with a feudal way of thinking. Lau Kong is a wealthy man in the village; his son, Raymond Wong, marries Grace Chan, who returned from overseas. A cultural clash in the household basically occurs every day. In the end, can the old-fashioned way of thinking be overcome, and can the equality of men and women be achieved?
- Raymond will play Luk Sui Fung (陸水豐), who is between feudal and open. He grew up in a feudal era village, but he later goes to the US to study, thereby meeting Grace. He gets entangled among eight women, but he only has one wife, which is Grace. Grace has a Western personality, while his father, Lau Kong, has an old-fashioned way of thinking; because they have a different way of thinking, conflict frequently arises; thus, he becomes the mediator between the two.
- Louisa So will play Lau Kong's second wife. She is a competent housekeeper. On the surface, she is in charge of big and small matters; if it is inconvenient for Lau Kong to come out and do something, she would also help out by being the ugly person. She appears to be an antagonist, but she actually has a miserable past. Because of certain reasons, she has to ingratiate herself with Lau Kong. She had someone she liked (which was Max Cheung), and thought about getting married, but her family opposed to it. She was actually married once, but she had a daughter, so her husband's family drove her away. She thought about eloping with Max but was unsuccessful, so the two separated. She ends up marrying Lau Kong. Many years later, she re-encounters her first love, Max, and their passion re-ignites.
- Grace will play Law Kwai Si (羅桂思), a girl who returned from overseas. She understands what gender equality is. Her appearance makes that group of women realize what gender equality is, so they feel that they have to stand against the men. Returning to this conservative village, she and Raymond seem to have brought back a new way of thinking, creating a lot of conflict with the villagers, and even extending into a murder case. The questionable points of the murder case all point to Raymond; because of this, she and Raymond secretly investigate. During their investigation, they slowly discover, while this group of women has been oppressed for a long period of time, they would also want to do some things to vent, but it accidentally becomes a murder case. The two discover this group of women during the investigation, so she unites them, standing against the men together.
- Katy Kung will play Chor Yat (初一), Lau Kong's fourth wife. She is originally a maid who has a crush on Raymond; thus, there is a slight love triangle among her, Raymond, and Grace.
- Lau Kong will play the head of the household. He has four wives.
- Louis Yuen will play Ng Seung Sun (伍尚舜). This village originally started off with the ancestors of the Luk family and the Ng family. Slowly, Lau Kong (the Luk family) became wealthier and wealthier, even financially aiding Gary Chan (the Ng family) to take the imperial examination, becoming a successful candidate. Because of this, Gary feels that he is indebted to the Luk family, so he always complies with the Luk family. Louis is Gary's younger brother; he cannot bear seeing this, so he enters the Luk family as a butler, doing many things to break up the family.
- Rebecca Zhu will play a narcissistic songstress who later becomes Lau Kong's third wife. Although she does not ask about worldly affairs in the household, she and Louisa always have confrontations. She has to play the pipa and sing.
- Zoie Tam will play Ng Wai Ming (伍惟明), who is naturally smart. Although girls cannot go to school, she enjoys poetry and literature. In the end, she is forced to marry but becomes a nun. She is Gary's daughter.
- Jess Sum will play Luk Bak Hang (陸北杏), who encounters the problem of having to be buried alive with her dead husband. She gets the support of the women, going against this fate together.
- Toby Chan will play a woman who gets bullied in a feudal society. She is originally the daughter of a wealthy family. Her husband, Wai Ka Hung, is an unrefined person who bullies her every day. Later, she has a foot chain because he is afraid that she would run away.
- Cilla Kung will play a tanned village girl. She and William Chak are originally a bickering pair, but she is later forced to marry him.
- William will play Cilla's husband. He is Wai Ka Hung's younger brother.
- Brian Tse will play a teacher. Grace used to study overseas, so she asks him to go to the village to help her change the thinking that women are inferior to men.
- Rosanne Lui will play Lau Kong's first wife.
- Tsui Wing will play a warlord.

FYI: The Chinese title of this series has been changed to 《平安谷之詭谷傳說》 (literally translated as "Safety Valley: The Legend of the Eerie Valley"). The official English title is "The Forgotten Valley".
