- The series is related to "The Duke of Mount Deer". The story talks about the "Forty-Two Chapters" being a lost treasure that has been passed down to this day, and has gone to Hong Kong. For their own reasons, a group of characters embark on a treasure hunt in which they battle one another.
- The story talks about martial arts masters and strange people hidden in the city having to hunt for treasure that has been lost in transmission for a long time. Everyone does not hesitate to become isolated and forsaken by everyone and betray one's friends in order to hunt for this treasure. In between, a lot of people's identities and secrets will be exposed. A lot of fierce fights happen in between, so there are a lot of action scenes. The subject matter is funny and a bit intense. The plot is bold and imaginative, but it has a mainly modern background; there is no ancient or time travel plotline.
- Moses Chan, Katy Kung, Kaman Kong, Chow Ka Lok, Zoie Tam, and Judy Kwong will play strange people with different identities and backgrounds. They have their own hidden intentions, and they use their specialties and supernatural powers to unfold a treasure-hunting story of fantastical adventures for the "Forty-Two Chapters", a treasure that has been passed down for a long time.
- The characters in the series are related to many historical figures, but the characters have neither travelled to the modern times nor have they been reborn as human beings, but because of a special reason, they got the character's special abilities. There is a scientific explanation in the series: when a person dies, his or her energy will also be stored in the universe and be placed in one of the dimensions; as long as there is fate, the character will connect to this dimension and be able to obtain the ancient person's abilities.
- Moses will play Cheung Ging (章經), a university professor of the Chinese Department who is well-versed in various types of traditional Chinese poetry. He is only allowed to speak Chinese; the only English he can say is 「幫朕check吓」. He is good at solving puzzles, so he relies on this method to find treasure. His previous life is related to the Kangxi Emperor, so he does not have to fight. He does not have supernatural abilities. He and Katy have a slight romantic storyline.
- Katy will play Chu Ying Kiu (朱螢嬌), a bearded butcher who was born with a supernatural power and infinite strength in the current life. She is a fighter girl. Her previous life is related to Oboi, so she gains infinite strength and becomes a bearded beauty. She will have a beard from the beginning to the end of the series. She and Moses are originally archenemies; they have a collaborative relationship. She is King Lam's younger sister.
- Zoie will play Kwan Yuk Ching (關玉菁), a clinical psychologist. She gets in contact with Moses due to some objectives; he is one of her clients. She uses hypnotism.
- Chow Ka Lok will play Oh Kin Ning (柯建寧), a nurse with slight dual personalities; he becomes very violent at night. He is rather cool and does not talk much. He gains two abilities; there is a big contrast in the day and at night. He mainly has scenes with Kaman and Helen Ma. He meets Kaman at the hospital.
- Kaman will play Siu Kwai Chi (邵桂芝), a math prodigy. She will appear in tomboyish hair shaved at the back, and she has to fight. She and Chow Ka Lok are a bickering pair.
- Judy will play Zoie So Chi Yu (蘇子瑜), an online speculator who sells trendy shoe brands, but her true identity is that of an acupuncturist and qinggong master. She has a big-mouth and mean personality. She is slightly capricious and very trendy. She has a lot of wire scenes.
- Felix Ng will play Lam Yik San (藍奕晨), a dark character with many unhappy experiences, which causes him to have a personality in which he does things by fair means or foul to reach his objective. He mainly has scenes with Zoie and Katy, having two separate abnormal experiences with them.
- Timothy Cheng will play a scheming math genius. He perseveres in looking for where the treasure is hidden; he and the group of masters risk their lives, overcoming many difficulties together. He is Kaman's father.
- Aurora Li will play Lee Yi Kwan (李爾君), a teaching assistant. She is an intellectual who studies new age things and has a profound interest in literature.
- Helen will play Chow Ka Lok's mother. She perseveres in looking for the treasure; she and the group of masters overcome many difficulties together.
- Clementine Sze will play Alisha Ha Chuk Kei (夏竹姬), a weird and unusual master's student.
- Kandy Wong will play Muk Hiu Nam (穆曉嵐), a martial arts master hiding as the boss lady of an antique shop. She is one of the people hunting for the treasure. She is the best fighter in the series; she will have a lot of fight scenes.
- English Tang will play an intellectual.
- Mary Hon will play an unfathomable hidden talent who is outstanding in her own domain and accompanies everyone in overcoming difficulties and in the hunt for treasure.
- Fung So Bor will play one of the 12 disciples. They have unique skills, speculate in stocks every day to make money, and are unpredictable.
- King will play Chu Ku Lik (朱古力), the owner of a butcher shop. She is a butcher who dreams of becoming a wrestler and opening a wrestling club. He perseveres in looking for the treasure; he and the group of masters overcome many difficulties together. He, Katy, and Julian Gaertner are siblings.
- Julian perseveres in looking for the treasure; he and the group of masters overcome many difficulties together.
- Poon Fong Fong will play one of the 12 disciples.
- Alan Tam perseveres in looking for the treasure; he and the group of masters overcome many difficulties together.

FYI: The Chinese title of this series has been changed to 《新四十二章》 (literally translated as "New Forty-Two Chapters"). The Mainland title is 《傲嬌與章經》 (literally translated as "Tsundere and Chapters"). The official English title is "Treasure of Destiny".
