Synopsis: 'Ching Ka Ying' (程嘉應), a graduate of the Department of Chinese Medicine, has performed outstandingly since practicing her profession. She is the top physician with the most patients per month, and is able to maximize the effectiveness of the tight resources. 'Ying' is promoted to senior Chinese medicine practitioner and supervisor of the clinic, and also beginning to participate in the training of junior Chinese medicine practitioners. Among the newly recruited Chinese medicine practitioners is her childhood sweetheart, fellow Chinese medicine classmate, and ex-boyfriend 'Ku Ching King' (辜清勁). Many years ago, the two broke up due to personality issues and their values. Now, [they] meet again as superior and subordinate with constant disagreements and conflicts. However, the two have the benevolence of doctors, always taking the interests of the patients as their priority.
'King' was treated unfairly when he went to the hospital for the collaborative treatment of Chinese and Western medicine. 'Ying' and the group of junior Chinese medicine practitioners eventually leave the government-run clinic. With great aspirations, they open a private Chinese medicine clinic together, facing different patients and difficult and complicated cases. Apart from improving [their] medical skills, [they] also have a different understanding toward life. 'Ying' and 'King' rekindle their romance; however, due to practical issues and different business policies and philosophies, they frequently conflict. 'King' eventually leaves the clinic and becomes a nomadic doctor. The two continue their own paths of medical philosophies, until 'Ying' contracts lupus. 'King' participates in 'Ying''s combined treatment of Chinese and Western medicine. Under the circumstances of life and death, the two discover that ideals and reality are subjects of lifelong learning for everyone.
