- This fantasy series begins with a gold shop robbery in the '90s. The sins of the thief king of a generation (played by Hugo Ng) affect the next generation, Ruco Chan, Mandy Wong, Roxanne Tong, and Nicholas Yuen.
- Ruco will play an insurance investigator. His father had robbed the gold shop with the thief king; this incident caused him to lose his father, and he had to live in an orphanage. The series title is also related to his story in the orphanage. He was bullied in the orphanage and was trapped in a hidden room; fortunately, someone opened a hidden door, allowing him to escape. Because of this experience, he strongly believes that a person in a hopeless situation will always find a way out; his belief is also the spirit of the story. He used to be a cop in the US, so there is no lack of action scenes. He and Hugo Ng will fight each other; he will punch Hugo Ng ten-plus times. He, Mandy, and Roxanne have an attachment that is more complicated than a triangular relationship. He and Mandy have known each other since they were younger. He and Roxanne experienced some things when they were younger; they are a bickering pair and are rather hostile in the beginning because, in his eyes, she is not that competent of a Madam, as she relies on her intuition for a lot of things, so she does a lot of things to prove herself to him. Based on a sense of justice, he also understands that, as long as the thief king is not eliminated, then he and Mandy would not have good days; thus, he and the thief king's daughter join forces to fight the evil forces. Henry Lo is his adoptive father.
- Mandy will play Luna Cheung Sam Yuet (張心月), a housewife who is not simple or ordinary at all. She is a weak person who is often oppressed by her mother-in-law and husband. She always gets yelled at and hit by others. Hugo Ng is a very cruel and violent father; she gets slapped by him, and she is greatly afraid of him. Thirty years ago, Hugo Ng forced her to pick up stolen goods, which caused her to have an unhappy childhood trauma. When she grows up, she conceals her identity; the only person who knows her life story is Ruco, who had the same childhood experience as she did. After her father went to prison, she and her mother changed their names to live new lives. At the beginning of the series, she is already married and has a daughter; everything seems blissful and stable until her father appears again, and her life is turned upside down. There are some supernatural elements in the series, as she will see the illusion of her deceased husband. She is under a lot of mental stress for the entire series. There is a scene where she has to go into the water to save someone. She will have a romantic storyline with Ruco. Her inner world is rather complicated. She and Ruco are similarly afflicted people pitying each other; when they were younger, their fathers were both thieves, and she gave him a little bit of warmth at his unhappiest time, leading to them having an affection. Thus, when they grow up, he would protect her.
- Roxanne will play Yeung Yan Hiu (楊忻曉), a Sergeant who is slightly clumsy. When she, Ruco, and Mandy were younger, they had some experiences, but when they grow up, they have different paths. When she encounters a case, she becomes interested in investigating Ruco and Mandy. She suspects that Mandy and Ruco are related to the thief king, who has just been released from prison, so she investigates them. She and Ruco had a childhood experience; their relationship is that of both rivals and friends because she wants to prove herself to him. Her partner, Kelvin Yuen, has scenes where he has to jump into the sea, whereas she does not have to.
- Moon will play Hailey, a young and slightly rebellious girl. She is very stylish and rather cool. She gets her foot into Nicholas Yuen, Fei Wu, and Antony Cheung's production house; she has a lot of happy days with them, working together and enduring all-nighters together. She gets into a complicated romantic entanglement with Nicholas and Antony. She is Ruco's younger sister and Henry's daughter.
- Hugo Ng will play Yip Siu Tin (葉嘯天), a fierce and malicious thief king. He is unpardonably evil, robbing a gold shop, committing murder and rape, and even showing no mercy to his own daughter. He is basically very benevolent and indifferent; however, if you do not give him money, he would kill you. He has an irritable personality and would always hit people. He does not compromise and is a crazy person. He is inhuman. In his world, there is only the survival of the fittest; whoever is mean calls the shots. He is very moody; it is not known when something will strike a nerve. Thirty years ago, when he was younger, he could not do anything if he did not have money, and was a 'you die, I die' type of person. He is very direct and has no benevolence, and can even be called cold-blooded. When he was in Vietnam when he was younger, he did not get to eat and would not get to eat unless he snatched it. Mandy is his daughter. A gold shop robbery not only led him to being sentenced to 30 years in prison, but it also affected Ruco, Mancy, Roxanne, et al., as their previous generation was beaten to death and got raped by him. He gets arrested and jailed; however, 30 years later, he is released from prison and looks for his daughter, which brings another storm to his daughter's stable life. In the latter part, when he comes back out, he has to get everything back.
- Nicholas will play Cheung Yat Fung (張逸風), Mandy's younger brother who is very protective of his elder sister.
- Hugo Wong will play Mandy's bad husband who mainly bullies her; they have a ten-year-old daughter. He is Angelina Lo's son. He inherits his father's business and becames a yacht king. Although he is a rich guy, he is miserly and selfish. He and Mandy are a married couple; however, he dies in an accident. He drowns in the fifth episode, but he would visit his wife from time to time, bullying her before and after his death.
- Henry will play a happy and honest person. He has a son (played by Ruco) and a young, lively, and slightly rebellious daughter (played by Moon).
- Angelina Lo is very rich, as she sells yachts. She is Hugo Wong's mother and Mandy's mother-in-law. There are disputes between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law.
- KK Cheung will play a character with Alzheimer's disease. He has relations with a lot of people, but he seems to not have relations with them because he forgets what relations he has with them. Roxanne is his daughter.
- To Yin Gor will play Hugo Ng's good friend; after meeting in Hong Kong, they support one another, and there are many turning points in the series.
- Ching Ho Wai will play Angelina's good friend. They talk about a lot of matters of the heart; because Angelina is a bit unhappy, she would console her a lot of the time. Although they are good friends, as long as there is money to be made, she would seize it.
- Chloe Nguyen will play a nurse at an old folks' home.
- Fei will play Ben.
- Kelvin will play Kam Siu San (甘小新), a CID. He mainly investigates cases with Roxanne. He is Roxanne's ex-boyfriend and is also a warm guy, so he would spend a lot of time accompanying her to investigate cases, is considerate, and would take care of the activities of her daily life; a slight turning point happens in their relationship.
- Gary Tam will play Chin Chat (錢七), Hugo Ng's underling.
- Antony will play a scumbag. He has a romantic storyline with Moon.
- Jerry Leung will play the superior of Roxanne and Kelvin. Roxanne is an absentminded cop, so he constantly yells at her and pushes her.
- Aurora Li will play a pregnant cop.
- Keith Ng will play a Superintendent. Jerry, Antonio Ng, and Ball Mang are his team members.
- Kelly Gu will play GiGi.
- Keith Mok will play Martin.
- Yuki Law will play a nurse.
- Tony Chui will play an Dr. Kwong, internist.
- Lisa Ch'ng will play Rebecca Chow Si Nga (周詩雅).
