Gallen Lo Reveals Kenneth Ma as Best Man

Gallen: "Yes, because I've thought about it for a long time. I think he--I've said it before--he quite resembles me...he resembles me a bit. Joe Ma, Michael Tong, and Moses Chan on Lydia Shum's 2001 game show "Happy Family Flagship (Sr. 3)".

The purpose of the game is to pick up blotting paper with the suction of the nose and then place them in a bowl.

Moses Chan sets the record with 15 blotting papers.

Bobby Au Yeung then breaks Moses' record with 17 blotting papers on the next episode. He keeps going and going!

Kenneth Ma Receives Praises from All Around

Kenneth Ma TVB Blog: 冇錢又冇料!!

- Lau Siu Ming (Ming Sir) says that Kenneth is very clever! He does not leave the set when he is off work. He watches people act, he processes everything, and then he analyzes everything that he's seen.

- Ming Sir talks about when he filmed "The Master of Tai Chi" in Hunan with Kenneth. One time, when they were on break, they went to a very inexpensive place to eat. He asked him, "Why do you eat so inexpensively?" Kenneth said, "I have to save money to give it back to my mom!" Ming Sir comments that Kenneth always thinks that he doesn't have enough, not just in terms of material things, but also ability [in acting], so he always gathers information. Ming Sir says that Kenneth is complex and not as simple as he seems.

- Ming Sir says that Kenneth does not admit to having some results in his acting career.

- When the topic was on Gallen Lo and Sharon Chan's kiss scene, Kenneth admitted to going to the set to watch even when he does not have to work. Even Jaime Chik said that Kenneth is really good because he is on set whether he has scenes to film or not. Then the interviewer said that Kenneth's ears are turning red, but he explains, "I just intentionally went in to watch them kiss!"

(Kathy Chow has also mentioned a number of times that Kenneth is a good role model. She says that he is very hardworking, and he really puts his heart into acting. On the first day of outdoor filming of "In the Chamber of Bliss", even though Kenneth wasn't in the scene, he was watching the playback with the other artistes.)

- Ming Sir says that Kenneth is a good influence on others such that it makes them want to work hard, too.

Personal Note: Ming Sir did not know Kenneth's full name because he just refers to him as 'Ma Ming'. Ming Sir wanted to praise him using his full name. The interviewer even said that Kenneth is very hardworking such that he has a notebook to remind him of things such as the clothes he wears in different scenes.

Ma Ming again said that great actors 'put money in his pocket and don't ask for change'.

Ming Sir also praised Joe Ma, saying that he has reached a certain level of acting, and that Joe can act. He also said that Joe is hardworking such that he also likes to watch others act.

Halloween: I'm a pirate!

"My Halloween in Toronto was very exciting because I remember when I was younger, I used to go around to different houses to trick-o-treat, and I would be able to get at least 2 garbage bags full of treats! I also remember I used to be so so so happy whenever I get chips from houses, because people usually give out lollipops and really small chocolate candies. So this year, I bought 100 bags of chips to give out! But maybe it was cold, there weren't too many kids who came out to trick-o-treat. I had over 50 bags of chips left, so I guess I’ll just eat them slowly…. 0_O
But some of the kids who came out were really cute….hehe….I went to my friend’s house for a Halloween party where many of us dressed up, it was so much fun because my friend Amy did all of our make up. I told her she should work for TVB! haha....
bna26 thanks for the translation!!!!在多倫多剛過去的萬聖節，非常令人興奮。因為我記得在我還小的時侯，我都會到處去不同的房子”trick or treat”，每次我都會拿到最少兩個藍子的糖果！每當我從其他房子取到薯片的時侯，我總會非常非常非常開心，因為他們通常也會給波板糖和一些非常小型的朱古力糖果。所以今年，我都買了一百包薯片給小朋友！不過不知道是否因為寒冷關係，沒有太多小孩子出來”trick or treat”。我派剩了超過五十包，所以我想我會慢慢地把它們吃光……不過有些來取的小孩真的非常可愛……嘻嘻……我去了我朋友的家出席萬聖節派對，大部份朋友都有裝扮；我的朋友Amy替我們化妝，真的很有趣，我告訴她應該在TVB工作！哈哈..."

Personal Note: It's great to see some recent pictures of Selena! I miss her so much! He he....

One of Selena's favourite munchies is chips! She loves to eat chips on set to keep warm. He he.... :) But chips in HK and in China taste so different compared to the ones in Canada. I bet she is happy to have 50 bags all to herself. :) We only had 18 trick-or-treaters, so a lot of Nestlé chocolates left over for us! He he.... :P

'09 Anniversary Time III

Most Improved Male Artiste
My Choice: Ngo Ka Nin

I didn't understand why TVB didn't promote Ka Nin after "Love is Beautiful" because the series received high ratings in 2002. I think Ka Nin did a good job playing the spoiled prince. Instead, TVB promoted David Do and Mat Yeung. Well, I think Ka Nin has a lot of potential, not only in acting and hosting, but he also has a great voice for singing. I remember him singing Eason Chan's "Next Year Today" on Tung Wah Charity Show 2002. He was the tenth karaoke star. :)

Anyway, Ka Nin has received much more recognition after playing Tseung Bit Man in "Rosy Business". He is certainly winning 'Most Improved Male Artiste', as he will have a heavier role in "Righteous Sea of Heroic Love" (filming in March 2010).

As for Raymond Wong, I see him more as a second lead (or first lead because he was practically main in "Sweetness in the Salt"). Thus, to me, he is a little overqualified to be in this category. :)

Most Improved Female Artiste
My Guess: Aimee Chan

If Aimee wins, she will be the only actress/Miss HK winner to win this with three years acting experience without a leading role. (Shirley Yeung and Kate Tsui both won with three years acting experience and with a leading role.) Also, Aimee has four series under her belt, and she plays a female cop in three of them.

There will be no need for that 'if' because Aimee is a Miss HK winner, and she has had executive support ever since her participation in Miss HK 2006. :)

My Choice: Selena Li

However, Selena is not nominated in this category this year. The only reason why Selena is not nominated is because she will not be present at the awards presentation, as she will still be in Toronto continuing her studies. Or maybe her status is too big to be a contender in this category? Sharon Chan is in the same league (siu fa dan) as Selena, and Selena is progressing over Sharon in both speech and in acting. We will have to wait until next year to see if TVB will nominate her for "Iron Horse Seeking Bridge".

Anyway, the bratty rich girl in "Beyond the Realm of Conscience" should be evolving into another person as she will become 賢妃. Stay tuned to "Beyond the Realm of Conscience"! :D

Also, I have always liked Catherine Chau and Rachel Kan. I think they are both very good green leaves. I first noticed Catherine in "In the Realm of Success" as a nerdy OL and Annie Man's sister in "Take My Word for It". Catherine did a great job in "A Bride for a Ride", so it is good to see her nominated. As for Rachel, it would be Miss HK 2000. She was the dark horse contestant that year. However, Rachel should have been nominated in 'Best Supporting Actress' for "Burning Flame III". Great performances from the both of them! :)
