- The story is set in the television industry of the '80s.
- Dickson Yu will play Lau Tak Wing (柳德榮), one of TVB's Five Tigers from back then. He and Karl Ting are friends as good as brothers who grew up in a housing estate. He is not someone who dreams of becoming a celebrity; however, later, due to Karl's influence, they both enter the performing arts circle, taking part in an artiste training class. While his star keeps rising, becoming a popular celebrity, Karl remains an unknown actor. He has separate tranquil romances with Tiffany Lau and Kelly Ng.
- Karl will play Chai Hing Chau (齊輕舟), who is not particularly handsome and is even slightly ugly. He grew up in a housing estate. He dreams of becoming a celebrity, dragging his good friend, Dickson, along to apply for an artiste training class together. After getting into the artiste training class, their roads become vastly different: he sees Dickson become better and better, while his luck gets worse and worse. Luckily, he has a friend in Joey Thye, later having some development. He and Joey are a couple; there is a series of passionate scenes.
- Tiffany will play Peggie Keung Chi Ngan (姜之雁). Due to her elder sister's influence, she decides to join the entertainment industry. She is a rather pure character with a Miss Hong Kong Pageant background (i.e., winning first runner-up) who becomes popular in the industry. She returned to Hong Kong from England. She is a rollerskating expert. She and Dickson will go from being a bickering pair to a couple. Her character has references to Maggie Cheung Man Yuk's life experiences.
- Joey will play Wan Chor Yu (溫楚瑜), a second-generation celebrity who comes from a performing arts family. She is not pretty. She is a 'silly big sister' who works toward her dream, but a lot of incidents and passion happen in the middle.
- Kelly will play Keung Chi Yin (姜之妍), Tiffany's elder sister who is already a big celebrity, as she is a currently popular fa dan. She is silly but kind. She is always immersed in her characters, so she cannot get herself back into reality. She returned from a foreign country. There is a triangular relationship among her, Dickson, and Tiffany.
- Niklas Lam will play Benz Hui Si Ban (許士賓), the leads' close friend. He makes slightly condescending remarks, is rather arrogant, and gets carried away. The background of his character is based on Richard Ng Man Tat and Benz Hui.
- Kayan Yau will play Chan Ka Man (陳嘉雯), the leads' artiste training classmate. She is a tough girl who takes the upper hand in love. She is a mature yet cute character. She and Niklas are a pair.
- Danny Hung will play Lo Kei Chung (路其中), the leads' artiste training classmate. He is mature and steady, knows the rules beforehand, and is rich in plans. He has already worked at a television station for a few years, but his friends recommend that he try out for an artiste training class, so he ends up doing so.
- Tse Ho Yat will play Yeung Chi Man (楊子萬), an artiste training class instructor who was a former triad boss.
- Sunny Dai will play an artiste training class instructor.
- Sharlene Wong will play Lo Ying Hung (盧映紅), a colleague of the artiste training class. She is slightly crude and loud.
- Frederick Chui will play a colleague of the artiste training class.
- Fefe Tse will play a colleague of the artiste training class.
- Bonnie Lui will play a colleague of the artiste training class.
- Fefe Tse will play A Lam (亞藍), a colleague of the artiste training class.
- Henry Lo will play a producer based on Poon Ka Tak. He helps a group of artiste training classmates.
- Helen Tam will play the producer of "430 Space Shuttle".
- Fei Wu will play Bowie, a siu sang.
- Elvina Kong will play Karl's mother.
- Gary Chan will play Dickson's father.
- Eva Lai will play Dickson's mother.
- Chung Chi Kwong will play a host. His daughter, Joey, joins a television station and later becomes a top comedic actress in Hong Kong.
- Nicole Wan will play Dickson's mean elder sister.
- Antonio Ng will play a siu sang.
- Eric Tang will play the manager of the artiste department at a television station.
- Parkman Wong will play a movie director.
- Honey Ho will play a colleague of the artiste training class.
