Artistes Kenneth Ma, Moses Chan, Shaun Tam, Ruco Chan, Nancy Wu, and Lin Xia Wei, the many TV kings and TV queens, gathered in Macau together with Hubert Wu, JW, Albert Chau, Venus Chi, et al. to attend a concert with the theme of paying tribute to Leslie Cheung the other day. Kenneth, who is a member of Leslie's international fan club, expressed that, back then, he was deeply influenced by his mother into liking Leslie's songs, and even changed her English name to 'Monica'. Ruco expressed that the first cassette that he owned was Leslie's songs; now, he would also choose his idol's [songs] when doing stage performances. It was rare for the four major TV kings to be at the event together, singing together and chatting with Bowie Wu on the stage. Bowie concentrated on forcing a confession out of Kenneth, asking if he had already become a father. Kenneth laughed awkwardly and said, "Not yet. If I am becoming a father, I will tell you in private". There was non-stop laughter in the audience.
Hubert also sang and even shared his singing experience with Moses and Kenneth backstage. Asking how the two seniors' singing skills were, he immediately said sweetly, "They just have to stand still on stage, and the audience is already very satisfied. Opening their mouths is really a bonus!"
Lin Xia Wei Asks for Time Off for the Stage Performance
Regarding Bowie explicitly urging [him] to have a baby, Kenneth laughingly said in an interview with this newspaper [today], "He was just hyping up the atmosphere...finding something to talk about and urging me and such. Was just joking!" Regarding the few TV kings singing on the same stage, he frankly said that he was not nervous: "Just felt a bit of pressure when singing Leslie's songs. Scared of wrecking the song by singing it. Don't know why but feel that only he can sing the flavour of his songs; other people singing it also does sound as good as him. However, I also have over ten years of experience of doing stage performances on stage and am also not a formal singer. If not sung too overboard, believe that the audience will accept it". [He] also revealed that he recently has to go up north to guest-star in the new TVB series "The Queen of Castle".
Xia Wei, who is also working on a series, also specially asked for time off from the Mainland series crew for the show. She said, "This combination for the concert is very strong; it's like a school carnival because all the combinations are also acquaintances. It feels very safe.
