Kenneth Ma's recent exposure rate is extremely high, first playing the cool Chief Inspector of Police 'Ocean' in "The Invisibles", which just finished airing, and then a legal executive in "Speakers of Law", which is currently airing, dominating prime time. In the past, Kenneth often acted as a benevolent doctor; it is rare that he does not have to act as a doctor this time. He said, "Man Wai Hung, the producer of 'Invisibles', said that he could wash away my doctor image, and he was brave enough to find me to be a cop. I also want to try other things; otherwise, there is no freshness". Recently, Kenneth has been busy co-starring with Charmaine Sheh in the new series "The QUEEN of News". He has high hopes: "I am playing an executive at a TV station. There is a power struggle plotline, and would also be more proactive in fighting for fame and fortune, which is not like the usual image in the audience's mind. It is also considered a very big challenge".
Working Hard to Make Money, Willing to Form a Couple Partnership
Earlier, his fiancée, Roxanne Tong, said that they would be getting married in a foreign country at the end of the year. Kenneth admitted that making money is important now: "I would rather accept more ads. Last year, also shot a commercial where [I] acted as a doctor. If an advertiser looks for me, even if it is a couple partnership with Roxanne, it is fine with me". Regarding his siu sang peers, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, et al., going to Mainland to shoot reality shows one after another, Kenneth does not have great interest in this: "Having cameras on [you] all day would be very hard. I prefer acting!" However, he and Yoyo Chen hosted a "TVB X Taobao Live Show" earlier; his signature Mandarin with a Hong Kong accent was praised as being adorable: "Mainland viewers like us Hong Kong actors speaking Mandarin when it is not as authentic. It doesn't matter if they laugh at me; it's just like King Kong speaking Cantonese with an inaccurate pronunciation many years ago".
Kenneth, who is turning 50 next year, is leaving having a baby to fate: "Of course, we have baby plans, but have to get married first. I wouldn't insist on it". He happily said that he and Roxanne have similar personalities: "She is a homebody; if [she] is not working, would stay at home. Sometimes when we have time off, would stay at home and watch movies and play with the cats". Influenced by Roxanne, Kenneth has joined the ranks of being a cat slave. Getting along with the two cats is like training for taking care of children: "We take good care of the two ragdolls at home...one male and one female. Always scared of them being sick. Sometimes they sleep in the day, and have to play at one or two in the morning; there is no difference with taking care of kids...it's very enjoyable".
Seeking Stability After Marriage, Have Not Thought About Leaving TVB
When talking about having a baby, Kenneth talks non-stop. The goal is that two are enough: "[Our] friends also tell us to quickly have [kids], saying that [you] will only understand when [you] become a father. It doesn't matter to me whether I have a boy or a girl; all in all, having two kids growing up together...can consult [with one another]. Parents will pass away one day; it would be good to have one more blood-related person to accompany [him or her]. (Having a few more?) Leaving it to fate. Roxanne and I both have a consensus: if there's a baby, of course, it's good, but it's also fine if there's none...leaving it to fate". In addition, when talking about 'younger sister' Natalie Tong leaving TVB, where she has worked for many years, Kenneth admitted that he only learned about it after the fact, and believes that everyone has his or her own ambitions. "I am seeking stability for the time being. Of course, will not stay in TVB forever. Can go abroad to film series in other places. The Greater Bay Area also has many opportunities; Guangdong itself has over a hundred million people".
