GEORGE TOWN: Hong Kong TVB drama star Moses Chan is looking forward to starring in the upcoming action-packed drama Heaven and Earth where he will showcase both his prowess in martial arts and his love for music.
Chan said the drama series, produced by K.Y. Chik, would touch base with viewers as it evolves around Hong Kong's underworld of triads and gambling, stock markets, politics, love and relationship entanglements.
He also had to shed about 15kg for the role and had to undergo training in Thai kickboxing for his role in the new series which will be aired next month.
"I had to practise kickboxing for one to one and a half hours daily. Apart from that, I taught myself to play the guitar, which is a requirement in the series. That is not a problem for me as I love music including jazz, classical and rock.
"In this new series, I portray a different role from my other role as Ah Ka in Moonlight Resonance. This time, I play a sophisticated and street-wise good guy," Chan said in an interview at the Oxo Cafelab in Bayan Baru yesterday.
Chan was in Penang for two days to promote the award-winning and critically-acclaimed 2008 grand production drama by Hong Kong Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) called "Moonlight Resonance" with his co-star Suzanna Kwan.
The final episode of Moonlight Resonance had garnered an average of 47 rating points, outperforming its predecessor series, "Heart of Greed".
In Moonlight Resonance, Chan played the role of Wing Ka, the eldest son of Gam Tai Cho (Ha Yu) and his wife Chung Siu Hor (Louise Lee) who are co-owners of Moonlight Bakery.
Kwan played the role of Salina Chung Siu Sa.
"The series spins a tale of family relationships and values. The message in the story is that family relationships come first," said Chan.
Chan said Moonlight Resonance is currently the highest-rated TVB series ever.
This drama also won coveted awards at the 18th TVB Anniversary Awards including Best Drama, Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Moonlight Resonance is an indirect sequel to 2007's award winning series, Heart of Greed.
The series is written and edited by Cheung Wah Biu and Sit Ga Wah.
It premiered on July 28, last year.
Personal Note: OMG, Moses is going to Thai box and play the guitar! I can hear 'thumps' already because a few female fans have fainted! Ha ha....
The plot for "Heaven and Earth" sounds like the Sales clip for 《城寨風雲》 "Sing Jaai Fung Wan" in 2000. Gallen Lo, Frankie Lam, Florence Kwok, Yvonne Yung, etc. were in the Sales Presentation clip.

Seems like Mo is replacing Nick's role. Or Chik Kei Yi changes the characters and plot?
ReplyDeleteIf Moses "is" replacing Nick's role, then I so called it. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm also guessing that Kenny will take Moses' role from the sales clip. :)
sehseh, you still might be right, Chik could also change the characters and plot. :)
seems like chik changed it up...
ReplyDeletewas nick portraying a good guy in the sales presentation..? and wasnt he working on technology with the whole "internet in the palm of your hands" speech..? hahaha... :S
but i was totally speechless when i read he was going to play the guitar... people finally get to see his skills!!! i hope more people love him after this... hehe... ^_^ there's nothing sexier than a man who really knows how to play a guitar and not just faking it... :P
Now, the whole "internet in the palm of you hand" sounds like Chik did change the characters/plot.
ReplyDeleteFrom what Moses said, it does sound like the sales clip of 《城寨風雲》(Sing Jaai Fung Wan) from 2000. However, the clip was filmed in modern and the sales booklet had it as ancient?

was chik the producer of the one you mentioned..?
ReplyDeletei hope the article didnt quote him incorrectly... or maybe moses made a mistake... haha... he does it too often... @_@
"Sing Jaai Fung Wan" was only a sales clip, so it wasn't filmed. But as I recall, it seemed to be very dark and mysterious. Gallen was an unlicensed doctor. The clip showed him taking out a bullet out of a triad's chest (or back, somewhere on the body). Frankie was a gambler. Florence was a prostitute, and Yvonne was a show girl. The clip ended with Gallen being held up at gun point by the triads.
ReplyDeleteIt did look like a Chik production though.
The sales clip was pre-modern. (It was more modern than pre, if you know what I mean.)
ReplyDeleteyea, i mean like producer of the sales clip... 'cause you know how chik was the producer of "fly with me" and HAE's sales clip...
ReplyDeletewow, that sounds good... kinda wish HAE is like that... or maybe TVB should take up that idea and film it later on...
I would know who the producer was for the sales clip back then. But thinking back now, it did look like something Chik would film. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, so many comments in just one night! I vaguely remember watching the old clip, but it was so long ago I didn't remember the details :P
ReplyDeleteBut if there is no cannibalism, that's cheating! :P
sehseh, do you think Chik will take the cannibalism out? Will the HK audience be able to accept a series with cannibalism in it? Or even in Mainland China? Can you believe that some places in China has banned Twitter? Outrageous!
