Also, Fala's 'handsome boy look in "Ghost Writer" reminds me of Jessica's boy look in "Game of Deceit". Maybe it's their height, and I think that they both have 性格! Ha ha....
*Credits to baidu and other respectable sources
Ron and Raymond wear same T-shirt, maybe it s not recycle but rather they went shopping together :)
ReplyDeleteI like your humour, Noah! Ha ha... :D
ReplyDeleteWhat Noah said could be true. TVB cast often have to provide their own wardrobe for modern series, unless it's sponsored (normally office wear, evening gowns or designer label for rich characters)
ReplyDeletehaha thanks for sharing! i love it!!
ReplyDeletelol..wow gigi lai, charmaine sheh & tavia wore alot of the originals...well at least based on your post..dont know if anyone else wore it before that..
wow TVB sure takes good care of their costumes...they look really nice even after a couple of years...
Lavendar_Bluez, they might look good on-screen, but I can't imagine how the costumes will smell like :P
ReplyDeletesehseh: HAHAHA...good point..and i guess you cant exactly clean em?
ReplyDeletebut i think TVB will probably do something about it for their big sisters...:D
LMAO...i cant imagine what happens if its an outdoor scene...everyone's sweating and the costume stenches just airs into the atmosphere...XP p.u!!
I like this post!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of lots of series!
OMGS! So many! The scrolling never ended lol. It must have taken you long time to compile it, good job!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe costumes look different when other persons wear them.. lol
I bet some of the clothes can be dry cleaned. But some of the armor costumes for ancient series cannot be dry cleaned. I remember when Raymond and Joe were filming a fight scene in "Eternal Happiness" and they had to film the scene in many angles. But, their costumes were drenched in sweat. So, Raymond and Joe had to air out the costumes before filming again. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! was so amused by your findings!! and then kept scrolling..an scrolling..LOL!! There's so much!
ReplyDeleteEntertaining post XD
Wow, how do people remember this stuff?
ReplyDeleteHa ha... TVB is not "that" complicated! :D
ReplyDelete"Gigi Lai "The Heaven Sword and and Dragon Saber" Cerina da Graca "The Conqueror's Story""
ReplyDeleteCerina's picture is actually from Better Halves, not The Conqueror's Story =)
To tvb_4_ever:
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it is from "Better Halves". My bad.
Thanks for telling me. :)
Just wondering, but do most of these actresses (from the costume dramas) have extensions/wigs or is that their real hair, perfectly braided and made?
ReplyDeleteI just find it hard to believe, that people back then would have hair like that. I mean sure, they could have specfic hairstyle designs, but honestly how can one design so intricate details onto a person's head? Which, basically means, TVB exaggerates most of the female character's physical apperances just to make them look atleast semi good. Same thing with costumes. I mean, they didn't even have that many colors back then. And from the looks of most of the costumes, it is just too ridiculous to be true.
They should totally make something, more life based.

ReplyDeleteTVB is usually very detailed when it comes to historical ancient series. The hair and costumes is supposed to look like that back then. One of the reasons why they have such big hair is because they do not wash their hair back in the day. They bathe, but do not wash their hair. If their head is itchy, they just use a sharp object to poke at it.
As for if the actresses use extensions or their real hair, I don't know. I would say wig because artistes do not like wearing ancient wigs because it damages their hair causing hair loss.
you should look up costumes in beauty of the game, they reused so many outfits in that series
ReplyDelete^^ thanks lots!! wonderful collection!! exciting n interesting who reused whos costumes. lol =)

ReplyDelete"you should look up costumes in beauty of the game, they reused so many outfits in that series"
Many of those costumes were from a variety of ancient series, too. :)

You're welcome! I'm glad you've enjoyed it. ;)
This is great! Well done....lots of them were so funny to see again! Love the humur...
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteThanks, and I'm glad you had funny looking at the comparisons. :)
For the clothing in "Ada Choi "Where the Legend Begins" Myolie Wu "Lost in the Chamber of Love", Myolie's not wearing the costume. Michelle Ye is.
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out. I must have typed a little too fast there. :)
wow, really cool page! thanks!! (:
ReplyDeletebtw
that isn't Matthew Ko, but Stephen Wong Ka-lok (:
opps, didn't appear:
ReplyDelete*Kenneth Ma "Lost in the Chamber of Love" Matthew Ko "The Greatness of a Hero"*
that isn't Matthew Ko, but Stephen Wong Ka-lok (:
To kRsyTaL~:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the correction! It is Stephen Wong Ka Lok. :)
omg...i didnt know SO many costumes are recycled! LOL XD the only thing i managed to spot similar from two different tvb series is a bag. :P im not sure if that's considered as 'costumes' though >.< haha, coz if it is, u could probably add to the list here .. hehe :P
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteWhen TVB spends money on something, they must get their money worth. :)
Ha ha.... You mean the red, white, and blue plastic bag. ;)
lol..i wrote the anonymous comment above :P anyway, no, not that one :D hehehehe...its a brown bag used by niki chow in the seventh day and then i saw another actress used it in forensic heroes II .. does that ring a bell? ^_^
ReplyDeleteTo Moon:
ReplyDeleteBags are accessories, so they would not count as costumes. :)
Very interesting post :D
ReplyDeleteI thought this costume (http://www.flickr.com/photos/69323909@N00/3629533457/) Charmaine Sheh wears in "Maiden's Vow" and Jessica Hsuan in "A Pillow Case of Mystery II" looked very familiar, only to realise that I most recently saw Michelle Yim wearing it in The Season of Fate: http://ent.hunantv.com/t/tj/20100104/538336_3.html#view
To Cara Ooi:
ReplyDeleteYep, it is the exact same costume.
TVB does that all the time. :)
OMG I Just noticed it :) gosh didnt really find the costume catchy part LOl. thanks for posting this up btw:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Hyn. :D
ReplyDeleteI think it's not that bad when an artiste wears a reused costume that another artiste has already worn, like what are shown. But when an artiste wears something he/she already wore in past series is a bit >_<.
For example: The costumes Tavia wore in Twins of Brothers, she wore again in Beyond...
I don't know why, but that bugs me...haha.
Haha, it's clear that TVB doesn't throw anything out! I can't imagine that all the costumes are a perfect fit though. Don't they have to alter it sometimes to fit different body types?
ReplyDeleteTo Advo:
ReplyDeleteObviously, TVB doesn't make any alterations, as some of the costumes look too big on some artistes.
Wow, how did you even manage to find this many recycled costumes? I'm impressed! XD
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous:
ReplyDeleteFans in Baidu posted them up. All I did was compile them and placed them side by side. :)
Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteNever really noticed and now I'm like - oh yeah she was wearing that and now someone else is wearing it.Must have taken a lot of time to compile them.
But in all fairness I guess TVB is making a good business choice. After all we don't throw away our clothes after wearing it a few times. We continue using them until they fade or don't fit.
Besides I guess it must take up a lot of time to purchase, design and then get the costumes ready.
Thank goodness we don't have to wear them.
Tavia wore the yellow one that she had worn in "Twin of Brothers" again in "Beyond the Realm of Conscience"
ReplyDeleteI have a website called www.recycledmoviecostumes.com
ReplyDeleteI would love to use these wonderful recycled costumes that you have found. I would give you full credit, of course. You can contact me at submissions@recycledmoviecostumes.com
Additional, in family man, golden faith and love bond, michelle ye, myolie wu and natalie tong (maybe bernice liu as well) wore a purple zipper jacket.
ReplyDeleteIn golden faith and family man, anne heung and flora chan wore the same zebra dress. but very good list.
