Personal Note: Fala's 'quiet' and 'update' remind me of Aimee Chan spelling "you're" wrong in the phrase "your under arrest" Ha ha....

Is there actually another way of spelling it or did they spell quiet wrong? 'Cos I know someone who spells like it's the "wrong" way and writes quiet instead...:P

ReplyDeleteHaha, happens to even the best of us. I'm fluent in English, but I misspell all the time. Whenever you're not double-checking, it happens. I also know some people like to switch around the letters not on purpose), maybe Fala's one of them?

^No, I think it's pretty common when people are writing too. A lot of people switch around some letters in some words, e.g. like believe and receive. It's because it sounds similar. Personally, I'm very visual in my spelling so I can see when it's wrong - though I do make mistakes if I'm typing - but not everyone have it the same way. Others are more auditory.

It is not common to switch letters around when you been accustomed to spelling it a certain way. The reason why people would misspell (e.g., "believe" and "receive") is because they either do not know how to spell it in the first place or they haven't made a strong enough connection with regards to whatever is the correct spelling.
I guess, if you say so. I only know from own experience that I quite often mix quite and quiet and only realises it afterwards because I can see that it's wrong.
